Semiconductor diode DC

Goals

a) Check and analyze the behavior of a semiconductor diode in direct current.

b) Obtain mathematically and in the laboratory values of current and voltage in a
circuit implemented with diodes.
c) Polarize semiconductor diodes.

Material

 1 general purpose rectifier diode.

 1 source DC.
 Resistors.
 Multimeter.
 Connection cables

Method

I. Identification of the terminals of the diode.

a) With the help of a multimeter in the diode tester option, connect to the diode
test probes and identify the anode and cathode terminals.

b) Now with the multimeter by measuring resistance determines the diode

terminal reporting the values obtained.

II. Measurements and calculations of the circuit with the diode.

a) For the circuit of figure to calculate the value of R needed for IR= 7.5 mA.
The power supply voltage is 12V.
b) implement the circuit. Measure and report Id, Vd, VR. (Keep in mind that
Id=IR).

c) Change the polarity of the source and measure Id, Vd, VR.

d) Describe the development of the practice and report your results in a table.

e) Conclusions.
