Activity instructions

Exercise one

T asks ST questions as in card. ST to respond with target structure If I could --- I

Exercise 2

T asks ST if they were in the same situation what would they do. ST respond with
target structure If I lost my passport I would go to the Embassy.

Pair work Activity

Each pair has a set of cards. They are placed face down on the desk then the
students take it in turn to turn over a card and read the situation to their partner
and ask “what would you do if -----? The second ST should respond with an answer
using If I lost the key to my house I would call a locksmith.” Or something suitable.

Group work

All the cards are divided into two piles and placed face down on the desk. The first
ST turns over a card then the second turns over a second card. The first ST who is
able to make a sentence using the target structure If + past Verb + would gets to
keep the cards. The other students may challenge if they think the sentence is
incorrect. The ST who has the most cards wins the activity.
