Research

-When the Spaniards left after the 1898 revolution, a new civil government was established on June 23,
1902. Provincial boundaries were revised in 1903; the name of the province was changed to Palawan,
and Puerto Princesa became its capital.

-In 1903, the province was reorganized to include the southern part of the province, and it was renamed
Palawan with the Puerto Princesa as the capital. At the time, the major role was to bring people closer
to the government. The Americans also built schools and promoted agriculture in the province.
