BORACAY ISLAND

Boracay Island used to be called the “Land of the Atis” it was first settlers, the Negritos or Atis.
The Negritos fished and farmed on Boracay for many centuries. Most people of Boracay were
employed as fishermen and on coconut farms. And businessmen from Aklan received products
and commodities, including rice, in return for copra, which is the dried meat of the coconut.
In the 1960s and 1970s was the beginning of families traveling from Panay to Boracay and in
1978 was the release of a book by a German author, which contained detailed information about
the amazing island of Boracay and introduced it to the outside world. The tropical island of
Boracay is located in the Western Visayas area of the Philippines, it is about 2 km from the
northwestern tip of the island of Panay and 315 km, or 200 miles, south of Manila. After Palawan,
Boracay is the most visited tourist destination in the Philippines and this indicates the beginning
of Boracay being more recognized as a beautiful island and recognized by tourists as well.
Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak are the three barangays that make up the island of Boracay.
The island group in the Western Visayas of the Philippines includes Boracay Island, also known
as Region 6 located on the northwest coast of Panay Island. The dog-shaped island of Boracay
is approximately seven kilometers long and less than one kilometer wide. At its smallest point,
10.32 square kilometers make up the entire land area of the island.
Caticlan in Panay and Cagban Beach is a narrow strait harbor where it is located in the south of
the island. The main port of entry is that leaving the island of Boracay most of the year it is
necessary to go through the port of Cagban. Tambisaan Beach can and will be the main entry
and exit route when the wind and sea conditions justify it as it faces the east side. In Boracay
Island toursit's main destination is Bulabog Beaches and White Beaches. The center of the island
is home to two beaches, and they are on opposite sides. Bulabog Beach faces east, and White
Beach faces west and more beaches can be found on the island of Boracay island.
White beach is the primary beach for tourists such as the resorts, hotels, restaurants,
accommodation facilities and other businesses line the roughly four kilometers of this stretch.
There is a walkway called the Beachfront Path that runs through the middle section, dividing the
beach from the businesses that line it for around two kilometers. Several roads and trails connect
the Beachfront Path to Boracay's Main Road, which is a driving route that travels across the
whole of the island. A pathway circles the headland at the far northern tip of White Beach, linking
it to Diniwid Beach. Bulabog Beach, White Beach's neighbor, is the primary windsurfing and
kiteboarding spot in Boracay. It is a secondary tourist beach. Since then, tourism has drastically
altered Boracay, turning the once-sleepy, sparsely populated island into a popular travel
destination.
