Use this procedure to create and edit cost centers and cost center groups.

Field R/O/C Description


Person Responsible R An element that defines a feature.  You must enter the
person or persons responsible when you create a feature.
Example:
Clay Swarts

Department R In this field, you can enter the name of the department to
which the cost center belongs. It then can be used for
evaluations.
Example:

Cost Center Category R The master data of an activity type includes one or more
cost center categories. The activity type may be used only
by cost centers of the appropriate categories.
Example:

Hierarchy area R To create cost centers, you require a structure in master


data maintenance to which you can assign cost centers.
You create this CO structure, the standard hierarchy, when
you create a controlling area. If this hierarchy is not present
during controlling area maintenance, the system
automatically creates the highest node there.
Example:

Company Code R The smallest organizational unit of Financial Accounting for


which a complete self-contained set of accounts can be
drawn up for purposes of external reporting.  This includes
recording of all relevant transactions and generating all
supporting documents required for financial statements.

Field R/O/C Description


Profit Center R An organizational unit in Accounting that reflects a
management-oriented structure of the organization for the
purpose of internal control.  Operating results for a profit
center can be analyzed using either the cost of sales
approach or the period accounting approach. 
By analyzing the fixed capital as well, you can expand your
profit center for use as an investment center.
Example:

Location R Name of the city as a part of the address.
Example:

District R Supplement to city name or district.  The entry is appended


to the city name with a hyphen by the automatic address
formatting function. (Exceptions: Germany, United
Kingdom/Ireland and Japan.)
Example:
SANTA CLARA

Postal Code R This field contains the postal (zip) code for the house
address (street and city).
Example:
95050

Region R In some countries, the region forms part of the address.


The meaning depends on the country.

The automatic address formatting function prints the region


in addresses in the USA, Canada, Italy, Brazil or Australia,
and the county in Great Britain.
Example:
CA

Country R The country key contains information which the system


uses to check entries such as the length of the postal code
or bank account number.

The two-character ISO code in accordance with ISO 3166,


which is delivered by SAP as a default, is usually used.
Example:
US
