 Do you want to
play together?

It is recess time. Susanna wants to play

with Martha.
“Hi, Martha!” Susanna says. “Do you
want to play together?”
“Hi, Susanna!” Martha answers. “I’d love
to play.”

 Susanna looks around the playground. She
sees many kids playing.
“What do you like playing?” Susanna asks.
“I like playing soccer,” Martha answers.
“I don’t like soccer,” Susanna says.

What do you
like playing?

 l like jumping rope.

The girls see other things to do.

“I like jumping rope,” Martha says.
“I hate jumping rope,” Susanna says. “Do
you like hopscotch?”
Martha doesn’t like hopscotch.

 The girls look around again. They
think hard.
Susanna asks, “What can we do together?”
Martha says, “We don’t like doing the
same things.”

 l love apples!

They see a girl eating a banana under a tree.

“I’m hungry,” Susanna says.
“Me too,” Martha says. “I have apples. Do you
like apples?”
“I love apples!” Susanna tells her new friend.

 “Here! Catch!” Martha throws
an apple to Susanna.
“Nice throw!” Susanna says.
“Good catch!” Martha says.
Martha has a great idea. “Let’s
play softball,” she says.

 The girls have a very good time together.
They both like apples and they both like
playing softball.
