Study shows that the lack of awareness of green technology

Initiatives of Green Technology in Malaysia

1. National Energy Policy

- Provide environmentally energy supply
- Ensure the sustainability of energy, environment, economy and social by application of
green innovation.
2. CIDB
- Initialized the Green Technology programme to focus on environmental development
- -TC9 (Technical Committee of Good Environmental Practices)
- Technical Committee of Best Green Technology Practices in construction industry
3. KeTTHA (Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water)
- 9 April 2009: formulate policies and legal framework related to green technologies
- 2009: National Green Technology Policy, promoted 4 major areas of green tech (energy,
building, water and waste management)
4. Government
- promote 3Rs
- Green Technology Financing Scheme (GTFS)

Green Technology

1. Mill and pave system (maintenance /new road construction)

- Recycled aggregate used on new road
- Used in hot mix asphalt pavement (combine aggregate and asphalt cement binder /
recycling agent)
- Reduces the impact that resurfacing has on the environment
2. Cold premix
- Reduce usage of cabon, decrease greenhouse effect
3. Recycling ??
4. Example: Menara Sarawak Energy, University College of Technology Sarawak
5. Solar Energy

Study focuses on

1. The amount of project that involved in green technology in Selangor

2. 2. Contribution green technology to the economy
3. Recommendation to improve the development of current green technology in Selangor
Methodology

- Theoretical framework
i. Body of knowledge on the implementation of green tech in XXX was explored.
Theoretical framework on the application of green tech was investigated and
identified in details.
- Quantitative research design

Questionnaire

- Has green technology been involved in any of the projects before?

Reason: lack of specialist and expertise
- Scale on answer limit to yes and no
1. basic knowledge on the concept of Green tech
2. Implementation of Green tech
3. Respondents insight in general in adopting green technology in development project
4. Constraint factors in adopting green tech in development project
a) Ignorance on the new concept and stick with conventional
b) Lack of exposure and awareness provided by relevant parties in promoting green
tech
c) Limited resources to get an idea towards green building concept
d) Limited marketing and promoting the benefit of green building to potential buyer
