DEAD POETS

SOCIETY
Erika Martínez
FAVORITE CHARACTER:
I consider that my favorite character was Neil Perry
because he is an obedient, curious, dreamy boy with a
lot of enthusiasm, in addition, he was the one who
started with the idea of making the club of dead poets
and he had a very good relationship with his teacher,
he trusted him to tell him about the situations he lived
with his father, since he wanted his son to study
medicine, but he wanted to be an actor.
I admire Neil for his ability to fight for his dreams, trust
his talent and show everyone that he really wanted to
dedicate himself to acting, however, in the end there
was so much pressure from his father and
unfortunately he made the decision to commit suicide.
ABSTRACT
This film takes place at the prestigious Welton University, the best private
school in the United Kingdom, whose education is based on four
fundamental pillars of tradition, honor, discipline and greatness.
The beginning of this course is characterized by the entry of a new teacher,
Mr. Keating, who has a way of acting and teaching very different from that
of other teachers. The methodology that he uses in his classes is very
different, since his classes are more dynamic than usual and are always
aimed at one goal: "we have little time in life and we have to make the
most of every moment".
Professor Keating's way of teaching is not to the liking of the rest of the
teachers, so he begins to have problems with them. Even the director of the
school shows his refusal towards this way of teaching, since at the
university there is an already established system.
A group of students, through the investigation of the professor's history,
discover the Dead Poets Club. Mr. Keating explains the history of the club
to them and the students decide to continue with him, as time goes by they
love poetry more, which was one of Professor Keating's goals.
After this event in the school different events occur, after which one of the
students commits suicide. In the investigation of the suicide they discover
that the deceased student belonged to the Club of the dead poets and
finally Professor Keating is fired.
I really liked the film because it is very nice to
see how the teacher through his special teaching
method manages to ignite the passion of young
people's hearts for poetry, Keating wants to
encourage them to understand that work is only
part of life and that, through poetry and the arts,
they can recover the beauty of living, which is
what they work for, it is also very interesting to
see all those students' self-improvement
processes, without a doubt, it has a very
beautiful reflection.
