CASINO MANAGEMENT DEGREE PROGRAM

The College of Southern Nevada offers a certificate or degree program in Casino Management. Earn an Associate of
Applied Science degree in Casino Management in two years or a Certificate of Completion in Casino Management
in one year. Complete all education requirements to earn a degree to work an entry-level position at a casino. A
student may graduate with an associate degree and certificate upon completion of all degree requirements.

Students who are interested in learning about casino management may transfer into a bachelor's degree program at a
university. Most students interested in upper-management will complete their associate degree may transfer to a 4-
year institution and apply their credit toward a degree in hospitality management or business. There are general
education credits and divisional credits that meet requirements for graduation. A student may attend CSN full time
(4 courses per semester) and complete all their degree requirements to graduate in two years.

The casino management program discusses all aspects of a casino to include: Casino Cage, Casino Management,
Casino Supervision, Customer Service, Game Protection, Gaming Regulation, Marketing, Casino Organization,
Race and Sports Book, Slots, Surveillance, Casino Accounting, Casino Math, and Casino Table Game Management.

In order to work in a casino, the student needs to understand how a casino operates. The casino management
program at CSN instructs management and supervisory roles of the hospitality industry. In order to work as a casino
professional, the student must have experience and a college degree. CSN offers a degree in casino management
entirely online. A degree is awarded after the student has met all degree requirements for the casino management
degree.

A certificate program discusses aspects of the casino industry. A certificate program discusses gaming law and
regulations, supervision and management of a casino.

A student may receive a certificate after successfully completing all table game the requirements to get a certificate.
The student must be proficient in dealing and complete all required assessments to complete their class. Upon
completion of the requirements the student will be able to pass an audition at a casino.

The coursework will instruct on all aspect of the casino including casino table games. The student will learn all the
technical aspect of running a casino. The student will understand how the casino operates. The student will learn
how to manage a casino. The program is designed for students to achieve professional advancement, mobility and
promotion in the casino.

In 2010, the gaming industry hired over 177,000 employees, of whom 3,300 held gaming manager positions (U.S.
Bureau of Labor Statistics). Over the 2010 – 2020 decade, a job growth rate of 11% was predicted for gaming
managers (BLS). The projected growth was attributed to various factors, such as the relaxed gaming laws in
numerous states driving the expansion of gaming facilities in such states. In May 2014, gaming managers brought in
an average annual wage of $75,590.
