1 What is Planning, and why planning so important?
2 What are vision, mission, goal, strategy, tactical plan and operational plan?

Answer :

1.planning is A basic management function involving formulation of one or more detailed plans to
achieve optimum balance of needs or demands with the available resources. The planning process (1)
identifies the goals or objectives to be achieved, (2) formulates strategies to achieve them, (3) arranges or
creates the means required, and (4) implements, directs, and monitors all steps in their proper sequence.
2. The control of development by a local authority, through regulation and licensing for land use changes
and building.Planning helps an organization chart a course for the achievement of its goals. The process
begins with reviewing the current operations of the organization and identifying what needs to be
improved operationally in the upcoming year. From there, planning involves envisioning the results the
organization wants to achieve, and determining the steps necessary to arrive at the intended destination--
success, whether that is measured in financial terms, or goals that include being the highest-rated
organization in customer satisfaction.
Why panning so important:

1 Increases efficiency ,planning makes optimum utilization of all available reacourses.


2 Reduce business related risks ,there are many risks involved in any modem business .planning
helps to forecast these business related risks.
3 Facilitates proper coordination: often, the plans of all department of an organization are well
coordinated with each other.
4 Gives right direction : direction means to give proper information accurate instructions and
useful guidance to the subordinates.
5 Aids in organizing : organizing means to bring together all available resources . organizing is not
possible without planning.
6 Keeps good control: with control, the actual performance of an employee is compared with the
plans and deviations are found out and corrected.
7 Helps to achieve objectives : every organization has certain objectives or targets.
8 Motivates personnel :a good plan provides various financial and non financial incentives to both
managers and employees.
9 Encourages creativity and innovation: planning helps managers to express their creativity and
innovation .
10 Helps in decision making : a manager makes many different plans.
2. -VISION

Your vision communicates what your organization believes are the ideal conditions for your community
– how things would look if the issue important to you were perfectly addressed.

-MISSION

Developing mission statements are the next step in the action planning process. An organization's
mission statement describes what the group is going to do, and why it's going to do that.

-GOAL

Goal is a statement about the desired state in which the organization or company intends to make it
happen.

- STRATEGIC PLAN.

Strategic plan involves analyzing competitive opportunities and threats, as well as the strengths and
weaknesses of the organization, and then determining how to position the organization to compete
effectively in their environment. Strategic planning has a long time frame, often three years or more.
Strategic planning generally includes the entire organization and includes formulation of objectives.

-TACTICAL PLAN.

Tactical plan. is intermediate-range planning that is designed to develop relatively concrete and specific
means to implement the strategic plan. Middle-level managers often engage in tactical planning. Tactical
planning often has a one- to three-year time horizon.

-OPERATIONAL PLAN.

Operational plan generally assumes the existence of objectives and specifies ways to achieve them.
Operational planning is short-range planning that is designed to develop specific action steps that
support the strategic and tactical plans. Operational planning usually has a very short time horizon, from
one week to one year.
