Jalpaiguri

The district has a total area of 6,227 sq km., 367.30 sq km is urban and 5859.70 sq km is
rural. Out of the total population of 4,298,860 in the district, 1,060,351 are in urban areas and
2,812,495 are in rural areas. 243,311 households are in urban areas, 625,015 are in rural
areas. 782,476 literate people are in urban areas, 1,716,304 are in rural areas.As per census
Jalpaiguri has a population of 3,872,846 in 2011 out of which 1,983,064 are male and
1,889,782 are female. Population of Jalpaiguri in 2019/2020 is 4,124,464(estimates as per
aadhar uidai.gov.in feb 2019 data). Literate people are 2,498,780 out of 1,396,622 are male
and 1,102,158 are female. People living in Jalpaiguri depend on multiple skills, total workers
are 1,512,910 out of which men are 1,091,361 and women are 421,549. Total 181,104
Cultivators are depended on agriculture farming out of 167,234 are cultivated by men and
13,870 are women. 212,657 people works in agricultural land as labor, men are 166,901 and

Malda
In 2011, Malda had a population of 3,988,845 of which male and female were 2,051,541 and
1,937,304 respectively. In the 2001 census, Malda had a population of 3,290,468 of which
males were 1,689,406 and remaining 1,601,062 were females. Malda District population
constituted 4.37 percent of total Maharashtra population.This district has a total area of  3,733
sq km.As per 2011 census, 86.42 % population of Malda districts lives in rural areas of
villages. The total Malda district population living in rural areas is 3,447,185 of which males
and females are 1,768,336 and 1,678,849 respectively. In rural areas of Maldah district, sex
ratio is 949 females per 1000 males.

BARDDHAMAN 
As per 2011 census, 60.11 % population of Bardhaman districts lives in rural areas of
villages. The total Bardhaman district population living in rural areas is 4,639,264 of which
males and females are 2,373,787 and 2,265,477 respectively. In rural areas of Barddhaman
district, sex ratio is 954 females per 1000 males. If child sex ratio data of Barddhaman district
is considered, figure is 962 girls per 1000 boys. Child population in the age 0-6 is 511,969 in
rural areas of which males were 260,995 and females were 250,974. The child population
comprises 10.99 % of total rural population of Barddhaman district. Literacy rate in rural
areas of Barddhaman district is 72.65 % as per census data 2011. Gender wise, male and
female literacy stood at 79.12 and 65.86 percent respectively. In total, 2,998,277 people were
literate of which males and females were 1,671,556 and 1,326,721 respectively. 39.89 percent
lives in urban regions of district. In total 3,078,299 people lives in urban areas of which
males are 1,593,102 and females are 1,485,197.

Purba Medinipur

 Out of the total Purba Medinipur population for 2011 census, 11.63 percent lives in urban
regions of district. In total 592,714 people lives in urban areas of which males are 307,272
and females are 285,442. Sex Ratio in urban region of Purba Medinipur district is 929 as per
2011 census data. Similarly child sex ratio in Purba Medinipur district was 958 in 2011
census. Child population (0-6) in urban region was 63,342 of which males and females were
32,355 and 30,987. This child population figure of Purba Medinipur district is 10.53 % of
