Please provide a background of the community enterprise poverty reduction initiative (how it
started, when it started/launched, ongoing operations and achievements; include dates;
important milestones).
AgriKulturashop.online started as a thesis of JP Quiñal (Founder). He then cultivated the initiative
from 2018 where he conducted a Beta Testing and just until this April 2020 where JP Quiñal his
partner Djon Amoc launched the platform and acquired four (4) farmers/sellers to post its products
and almost one hundred (100) consumers.
Please elaborate how your initiative meets the selection criteria of the awards as
follows:
1. Originality & Uniqueness (How does your social enterprise creatively solves the problem of
poverty in your community; describe a unique product or service that is well- thought out and one-of-
a-kind)
Inadequate access to formal markets, including supply chain partners, and wholesalers, prevents
farmers from selling their produce at a competitive price and generating substantial cash flow. Instead
farmers may take an opportunistic approach and sell to middleman and traders at reduced prices that
are often negotiated on an ad hoc basis. Informal transaction like these does not provide inclusive
growth to farmers.
Our proposed solution, an Online P2P, B2P marketplace for Agricultural products.
AgriKulturashop.online provides opportunity to streamline the agricultural value chain and reduce
inefficiencies in the distribution of farm produce. It represent a new way for farmers to sell their
produce to an array of buyers including agribusinesses, retailers, restaurants, and consumers.
AgriKulturashop.online increases farmers’ access to new market and adds transparency to the value
chain. It enables farmers to bypass several intermediaries, resulting in higher income for the
farmers, reduced wastage, and the potential to deliver fresher produce to consumers.
Consumers do not need to go to the market in order to buy fresh agricultural produce. An access to
internet is what they need in order to purchase online.
Aside from helping the farmers, we are also helping tricycle drivers and third party delivery services.
Due to this pandemic, most of our tricycle drivers don’t have enough passengers due to community
quarantine and strict implementation of scheduling. That’s why we are establishing partnership with
them on delivering the goods from our farmers to our consumers in order for them to gain a
reasonable amount as a service/delivery fee.
AgriKulturashop.online is also considering to extend its logistic services to help deliver Self-learning
modules and work plans of Students in public schools. The huge demand for Module delivery will
create more economic opportunity to our partner tricycle drivers and other logistic partners,
consequently less hassle to parents and teachers.
We consider our social enterprise as a form of activism. We disrupt and change the prevailing
socioeconomic equilibrium that is disadvantageous to farmers. Even before COVID19 terrorized
humanity, traditional agricultural value chain already involves multiple intermediaries between farmers
and consumers. As a result, farmers receive only a small proportion of every price paid by the end
consumer as each intermediary in the value chain earns a margin. As stated in Philippines Mindanao
Jobs Report, 3.7 million farmers and fisherfolk live in or near poverty wherein 1.2 million are food-poor,
1.1 million are labeled poor, and 1.4 million are near poor. Farmers as a supplier of our essential
necessities, should have live a better quality of life.
On the other hand, as Covid 19 cases increases, leading to global restrictions on socializing and
enforcing greater social distancing, it changed the traditional market activity. The Farmers and the
consumer find it difficult to transact physically.
The need for a sustainable ecommerce platform that will bridge the gap and synergize farmer to its users
will play a relevant role to sustain food security.
Our role as a new economic actor we created a digital ecommerce platform as substitute to the
traditional brick and mortar market place for agricultural products that will We increase farmers’ access
to new markets and adds transparency to the value chain. While providing seamless-palengke
experience to its end users.
The need to be fulfilled is to build a financially sustainable social enterprise. Making the
AgriKulturashop.online self-sustaining organization and build a revenue model that will maximize the
organizations profit while maximizing benefits to our partner farmers/famer association and stakeholders.
4. Community Upliftment (Describe how your social enterprise help in uplifting the conditions of the
poor and urban communities/disadvantaged communities.)
For our partnered farmers/farmers association, aside from helping them in marketing their products,
we have established Agripreneurship program, under this program farmers will be able to learn how
to use digital technology as leverage to increase their market share and profit. The farmers will be
able to have an overview and learn the basic of financial literacy and basic of computer literacy.
For our Logistic partners especially to our partner tricycle drivers, aside from delivery of products for
our partner farmers/farmers association. We will be providing them other economic opportunities, like
extending our delivery services to public schools for the delivery of Self-learning Modules and Work
plans in order for them to have additional income.
We have help reduce food wastage and provide jobs opportunities and business opportunities to our
partner shelter facilities, and penitentiary facilities.
