Pipe system The pipe system incorporated in the gas burner equipment, i.e. the pipe connection between gas burner station and gas burners, is made of steel pipes and flexible steel hoses. 2.1.3 Burner assembly (03) See Encl, I, A burner assembly consists of a gas burner (04), a steel hose (10) equipped with quick-acting coup- ling (11), a butterfly valve (08) and a pressure gauge (09). The gas burner is attached to the fixing flange (13) by means of adjustable eccentrics (16). 36261-02 3 The gas burner proper (04) consists of the burner pipe (06) and the gas nozzle (05), which are welded to the burner pipe. The burner pipe is equipped with a mounting plate (15) and the quick-acting coupling (11) is attached to the pipe at the inlet end of the pipe. 2.2 Operating principle Refer Encl. I. The gas flows from the burner station through the pipe system to the gas burners where it is injected into the combustion chamber through the nozzle holes. The gas flow to all gas burners is adjusted by changing the gas pressure in the gas burner sta- tion. (See separate instruction manual). The regulation or interruption of the gas flow to the single gas burner is effected by means of the butterfly valve (08). 36261-02 4 INSTALLATION See encl. I and erection drawings. 4. Attach the fixing flanges (13) to the riser duct by welding in accordance with directions given on drawing and diagram. Clean-out cover (01) to be fixed by welding op- posite the fixing flenges (13) as shown on the drawing. O1 Mount the gas burners so that the steel hoses (10) and the butterfly valves are facing down- wards. Mount the pipe system between the gas burner station and the gas burners (04) as indicated in the pipe diagram. Pipe holders to be fixed by welding, spaced apart as indicated in the table below: Pipe diameter (mm) |76.1]88.9]114.3/139.7]219.1 Spacing between pipe holders (m) 4.5] 5.0] 6.0 | 7.0 | 9.0 36261-02 5 In case the distance between hot surfaces and gas pipe is less than one metre, the supplied radiation shields must be installed. Stress forces in the pipe system must be avoid- ed. In order to allow for the thermal expansion, the U-clamps must not be fixed so firmly around the pipes that the pipes are unable to move axially. Steel hoses of the pipe system to be mounted so that exposure to tensile forces is avoided during the thermal expansion of the riser duct. 3.2 Pressure test of system to be performed after the Pipe system has been installed. Disconnect burner station and pipe system. Place the plug (12) in the quick-acting couplings (11) and apply air pressure (6 bar) to the pipe system. Leakage test of all assembly points to be conducted by means of soapy water or the like. ION See encl. 1 1d Check that the gas burner station has been adjusted in accordance with the directions given in separate instruction manual for gas burner station. 36261-02 6 4.1.2 Check the quick-acting coupling (11). Check that the butterfly valve (08) is closed. Withdraw the gas burners which will not be required during operation. Close the cover (14) and mount the plug (12) in the quick-acting coupling (11) for the withdrawn burners. 4.1.3 Check that the setting of the lock-outs for gas supply to burners is correct. See process manual and instruction manual for the gas burner station. 4.1.4 When the lock-outs are cancelled: Start the gas supply to the pipe system. 4.1.5 Open the butterfly valve (08) and check through the clean-out opening that the gas is ignited. 36261-02 7 Operation Refer Encl. I. 4.2.1 The gas burner station monitors the gas flow to burners during operation. The gas flow rate is controlled by changing the gas pressure. Readings of the ratio between the gas pressure and the gas volume can be obtained from the capacity diagram, encl. 11. The curves are based on one CBG gas burner with eight nozzle holes with diameter = d. The table below indicates the nozzle hole diameter for different types of gas burner equipment type GEC. GEC type 2-4 |3-4 |5-4 |7-4 |12-4]5-6 |7-6] 12-6 Nozzle hole diameter. d | 6.0 |7.8 /10.0/11.5/15.0|8.2 |9.4| 12.5 Set the butterfly valves (08) on the single burners until the pressure readings on the pressure gauges (09) are identical. Hence the same gas volume will be supplied to all burners, regardless of the pipe resistance between gas burner station and gas bur- ner. 36261-02 8 Any change in the gas pressure at the gas burner station will again make it necessary to check the Pressure on the pressure gauges (09) and to re-set the butterfly valves. Operational check-up Check at regular intervals - once or twice during each shift - that - the gas is burning at all gas burners. - the gas pressure is the same at all gas burners. (Pressure gauges (09)). - Ro dust nor cakings are deposited on the gas nozzle (05). If deposits are ascertained, the nozzle must be cleaned through the clean-out opening (01). - the quick-acting coupling (11) is correctly closed. - the eccentrics (16) hold the gas burner firmly in place 36261-02 9 Withdrawal of gas burner during operation If a gas burner has to be withdrawn during ope- ration, the following procedure must be applied: Close the butterfly valve (08). Disconnect the quick-acting coupling (11). Place the plug (12) in the quick-acting coupling. Release the eccentrics (16) and withdraw the gas burner. Close the cover (14). It is of paramount importance that the plug (12) is attached to the quick-acting coupling (11) as_soon as the coupling has been dismantled. 4.5 Shutdown During shutdown the gas stream is shut off at the burner station. 36261-02 10 MAINTENANCE Preventive maintenance, survey +1 Lubrication +2 Cleaning +3.
