RE: COVID Protection Measures For AkzoNobel Technical Service Personnel – South Asia

During the current COVID-19 Pandemic, AkzoNobel will continue to undertake its best efforts to service
the needs of its valued customers, however, the safety and health of our personnel must remain our
highest priority. In light of the current health situation we have provided some guidance to our inspection
personnel to help them manage their potential virus exposure whilst continuing to perform their day to day
duties. This guidance may impact their ability to service your facility or vessel. Please see below the
current guidelines under which they have been directed to operate.

1) Inspections that are done in open air yards and large open sheds/warehouses should pose
minimal risk, however our personnel will adopt the following additional precautions
a. Adoption of typical PPE (boiler suit, gloves, glasses and where appropriate masks ) to
further reduce potential exposure
b. Employ best practice social distancing precautions, (minimize personal contact with
others, maintain 1.5m separation, practice good hygiene etc)
c. Avoid higher risk situations (avoid meetings involving multiple people, avoid entering
confined spaces with other personnel, and avoid forced close proximity)
d. If a yard or facility has reported a positive COVID test for one of its employees, we will
not enter that site for min of 14 days since detection or until declared as suitably
“cleansed” .

2) Most marine vessel inspections and dry dockings are also seen as minimal risk when the above
approaches are enforced, but when the boarding of vessels is required additional steps will be
taken.
a. The vessel operator (ships representative, captain etc) will be required to complete a
COVID questionnaire providing details of the ports visited by the vessel in last 14 days,
and general health of crew (ie is anyone showing symptoms etc)
i. If vessel has been through “high risk” ports in last 14 days we will not board
ii. if any member of crew has been tested positive for COVID 19 or is showing
symptoms, we will not board for a minimum of 14 days after their removal from
the vessel or until it is declared as suitably “cleansed”

3) While general anchorage inspections can be undertaken provided all the above measures are
met, we will not undertake in transit/in voyage inspections while international/interstate travel
restrictions are in force.

We trust you appreciate the need for these additional precautions and thankyou for your co-operation
during these difficult circumstance/.

Kind regards

Jamie O’Brien
