Section 1. General Information

1-1. Introduction

CardioCare2000 is an electrocardiogram (ECG) device capable of measuring and recording 12

channels of cardiac signals of patients. The device enables operators to record cardiac signals,
review them using various viewing modes, and perform automatic detection of cardiac conditions.
In addition, the device allows operators to enter patient information for it to be printed alongside
cardiac signals, so that operators can sort and manage charts conveniently. It is also possible to
manage the digital files by transferring the stored data to a networked PC.
Furthermore, user convenience has been further enhanced by addition of a functionality that
can initiate ECG recording & saving, filter enhancing, parameter sorting and automatically
detecting cardiac signal all at once by pressing one key.
A battery (optional) can be added to the device so that the device can be operated
conveniently during bedside visits or emergency conditions.

1. If some wave patterns are too small as
shown in the problem 6, the problem is most
likely to be with the patient cable, limbs
electrode or chest electrode.
2. If the problem is not with the accessories,
then the main board is the problem.
3. The main board must be shipped to us for
repair since the condenser of the main
board must be replaced.

2-4. Filter

Base line Filter

Base line drift is caused by a patient‟s breathing. ECG signal is overlapped on a large parabola. If
you want to set Base line drift, select „ON‟. Otherwise, select OFF. The set value appears on the
bottom part of the printed form indicating 0.1HZ- when set to ON, and 0Hz- when set to OFF.

<BASE FILTER OFF> <BASE FILTER ON>

AC Filter

In addition to ECG, other signals such as power noise, base line drift by respiration and
electromyogram may be recorded in the output signals.
There are three types of the noise filter; 60Hz, 50Hz and OFF. When set to OFF, noise is not
eliminated. Set to 50Hz, it indicates to filter 50Hz power noise. Set to 60Hz, it means filtering 60Hz
power noise.
When the system is powered by battery, power noise is not generated, so you may have clear
ECG signal if set to OFF. In Europe where the power noise is 50Hz, the system is set to 50Hz. In other
nations including Korea and the U.S., it is set to 60Hz.
The status of the set filter can be checked on the bottom part of the printout, indicating AC 60Hz,
AC 50Hz or AC OFF.

<AC FILTER OFF>

Low Pass Filter

When ECG is not clear even after all three filters are set to ON, the use of low frequency filter will
produce clear ECG signal. The low frequency filter can be set to 40Hz, 100Hz, and 150Hz and OFF.
Set to 40Hz, it eliminates all signals over 40Hz. The set value is indicated on the lower part of the
printed form. If you set the filter to OFF, -250Hz is indicated. If set to 40Hz, -40Hz is indicated. Set to
100 Hz, -100Hz is indicated. If set to 150Hz, -150Hz is indicated.

3-3. Filter Setting

AC power noise, base line drift caused by breathing , EMG signal can be recorded along with

the output ECG signal. To set the AC noise filter, move to “FLT” menu to call up “AC” menu and

press key. key toggles between off, 50hz, 60hz. Off indicates that filter does not

suppress ac interference. As for 50Hz or 60Hz, filter suppresses 50Hz or 60Hz AC power noise. In case

of battery power, ECG signal is clear only with Off setting because AC noise interference hardly

exist. The selection is 50Hz for most of Europe and 60Hz for USA and other countries. The selected

setting is shown on the bottom line of the output form indicated AC 60Hz, AC 50Hz or AC OFF

Base line drift is caused by patient breath. Base line drift filter can be set by pressing key.

BASE key switches on or off. off, 0.05, 0.1 or 0.2Hz indicates base lien filter is applied or not.

The selected setting is shown on the bottom line of the output form indicated by „0.1hz-„ as for filter

on and „0hz-„ as for filter off.

EMG signal is induced from muscle and internal organs of the patient.
For clear ECG signal output, it is necessary to eliminate EMG signal interference.
EMG filter can be set by pressing MUSC key. MUSC key switches on or off.
On or off indicates EMG filter is applied or not. The selected setting is shown on the bottom line of
the output form indicated „EMG:On‟ or „EMG:Off
Low pass filter can be selected to optimize ECG signal after applying above three filters and if

ECG signal is still interfered. To set the low pass filter, move the menu to “FLT” to call up “LPF” menu

and press key. key toggles between off, 40hz, 100hz, 150hz. As for 40Hz, it indicates

filter suppresses higher frequency than 40Hz. The selected setting is shown on the bottom line of the

output form indicated by „Off„ as for off, by‟-40hz‟ as for 40hz, by‟-100hz‟ as for 100hz, by ‟-150hz‟ as

for 150hz.

To apply filter could result in ECG distortion. So, filter should be appropriately applied to reduce

the fluctuation without affecting the ECG signal when output signal is badly interfered only.

For your reference, base line file and ac filter should be always active and EMG filter can be

applied appropriately. It is recommended for LPF to set 150Hz during diagnosis.
