Honorable Chair, Esteemed delegates.

The United Nations have defined sustainability as ‘meeting the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’ It was this fundamental
concept that then laid the foundation for the Sustainable Development Goals, replacing the Millennium
Development Goals in 2015

Achieving the ambitious 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (United Nations, 2015) requires new
innovation approaches that are socially inclusive and environmentally benign. This resolution presents
several new and emerging innovative approaches, highlights how they may contribute to the
achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and discusses some of the policy implications in
harnessing such approaches. It provides an overview of particular issues and considerations that need to
be taken into account in coming years to maximize the contribution of new innovation approaches to
sustainable development

Meeting sustainable development goals will require action on a number of fronts, including harnessing
and maximizing the potential of technological innovation. Examples of such technologies include carbon
capture and storage systems, more efficient irrigation methods, essential medicines, household water
purification devices, and manufacturing processes that minimize waste and pollution. While some
needed innovations can be fostered through existing public and private mechanisms at the national
level, such efforts have proven inadequate to meet global sustainability goals, particularly with regard to
meeting the needs of the world’s poorest, most vulnerable or marginalized in current and future
generations. Too often, technologies are either not developed at all for lack of a sufficiently profitable
market, or if developed, are not accessible or well-adapted to end-user needs. This Program initiative
seeks to advance knowledge and understanding of how to equitably improve the functioning of the
“global innovation system” for sustainable development technologies.
The Russian Federation is committed to achieve the goals defined by the international community in the
2030 Agenda. The Russian federation has been making continued efforts to implement the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) at the national level. This work has been done as a direct continuation of the
activities in the framework of the Millennium Development Goals achievement

With that being said, This resolution produced by the delegates of Russia, Portugal and the united
kingdom proposes a strict set of solutions, primarily targeting the background of the issue as well as its
roots in order to attain future achievements

The resolution covers all aspects of the issue and clearly states its possible solutions. Clause 1 is self
explanatory whereas Clauses 2 and 3 talks abt how the transportation sector can be further developed
in order to achieve sustainable development. clause 4 talks about improvements that can be made to
increase the efficiency of solar energy and ensure solar energy is successfully trapped and converted
into other useful forms of energy. Whereas clauses 5 and 6 is mainly based on the research and
development of wind energy. Clause 7 talsk about how the MEDC’s and other organizations can help in
assisting the LEDC’s in integrating science , technologt and innovation policies into their national
development strategies. clause no 8 calls for the governments to provide and procure funds in the
research and development of environmentally sound technologies and clause 9 encourages scientific
organizations and research institutions to form alliances with other pubic and private universities and
laborities ect to expand their training programs. Clause 10 calls for an increased participation of
scientists and engineers frm developing countries and promote investments in order to enhance public
knowledge and to achieve sustainable development. Whereas clause 11 calls for an adequate diffusion
of scientific and technical knowledge o and acquisition of technology for developing countries, under
fair, transparent and mutually agreed terms. Moreover clause 12 encourage member states to conduct
technology assessment on existing, new and emerging technologies to help evaluate their development
potential and understand potential negative effects and risk; and finally clause no 13 talks abt the
potential impact in the society that may be caused by the rapid technological change and acknowledges
their potential to transform the labor market.

As The resolution covers all aspects of the issue and clearly states its possible solutions the delegate of
russia believes that this resolution should be passed.

Any and all amendments to this resolution in the good will of achieving bigger peace by solving the issue
will be appreciated.

Thank you.
