Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
 Answer:

One of the reasons why I did not study English before is because I

thought it was very difficult, also the teachers of my time did not

go beyond the verb tube and one still did not learn, another reason

is that I did not see it as necessary in my life because I thought

that it would not be of any use to me, also in my time there were

not as many facilities as today to study and make learning easier

Example: technology, I thought they would never require me to

know English so I did not give it importance, but today Today if

you want to work in a good company, English is a requirement.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.
Answers:

1: to work:
Perhaps if I had studied English before, I would now have a well-paid
job. English will give us access to a better education and therefore the
possibility of a better job.

2: education:

If I had learned English I could have accessed a better education,

without limiting myself to the universities or training centers in our
own country. In addition, it would have given me access to more
current and complete information, I would know the latest advances
and I could access the majority of scientific, academic and
technological texts, written in English

3: holidays:

If I had studied English before, I would have no excuse to have a great

vacation. A language trip abroad is a way to perfect your English,
meet a new culture and interesting people, visit incredible places and
generally enjoy an unforgettable vacation.

4: other cultures:

If I had learned English before, I would have the opportunity to learn

about cultures, lifestyles and different ways of thinking. You could
have met new and interesting people and understand their customs. It
would have given me the opportunity to see myself with different eyes,
and perhaps I would have discovered aspects of myself or my culture
that I had not reconsidered before.

5: art and literatura:

If he had learned English earlier, he could enjoy British humor, Anglo-

Saxon literature, film and theater, and English culture in general. If I
knew English I would be able to better appreciate the puns, jokes,
metaphors and all the nuances that I get lost in translations. you
would be able to see the movies that I like so much in the original
version.
B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more

satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English
is the most important language.
