Sangfor
Sangfor HCI - Competitive Points
‒ Sangfor cautioning that data may be lost when virtual machines are migrated onto another node (since CPU and
memory data of VM are not synchronized with different nodes

‒ Needs unused spare disks to reconstruct the data on any disk failures
Data Availability
1 Limitations ‒ If IO read and write speed is lower than 50MB/s, then Continuous Data Protection (CDP) service may stop due to low
storage performance

‒ Data reconstruction upon node failure will consume space of other disks and affect their performance. Therefore,
Sangfor recommends replacing the failed node which can lead to to delay in the data availability

‒ Backup repository needs to be created before creating backup (might take 1 minute to complete). No evidence of
offering remote site backup

‒ One virtual machine cannot be associated with more than one backup policy. If the virtual machine is associated with
a new policy, it will be removed from the previous policy

‒ If there is change in backup repository, then all the data is taken backup instead of incremental
Data Protection
2
Limitations ‒ CDP or scheduled backup is not applicable to virtual machines having disks mapped directly from physical or shared
disks, rather than via file system.

‒ Customer needs to manually connect the network to avoid the IP address conflict when restoring the VM to newly
created VM

‒ To restore 40GB of VM, it takes minimum 10 minutes

Sangfor HCI - Competitive Points
‒ Does not offer any data efficiency features and hence more disk space is required. If 2 or 3 replicas are selected,
then customer need to purchase double or 3 times the disk space for storing the replicas which leads to purchase
additional cost
3 Lower TCO
‒ Sangfor HCI solution needs unused disk in case of disk or node failure

‒ Sangfor Software (aSV, aSAN, aNET) are licensed based on per CPU

‒ Sangfor offers its proprietary management and new interface hence customer needs to learn this interface
Management
4 Limitations ‒ After a few times of scrolling up and down and after the interface alignment is run out the mouse pointer becomes
hard to click. (one customer posted the comment in Gartner Peer insights)
