The Classifier consists of (from top down)

• Rotor drive (VFD adjustable motor with

gearbox)
• Classifier ceiling housing with mill outlet
duct and support for rotor drive
• Upper classifier housing with the built-in
static guide vane ring, ceramic lining and
feed chute
• Lower classifier housing with ceramic lining
• Rotor assembly (Rotor with rotor blades,
bearing cartridge, lower bearing supports)
• Bearing cartridge is lubricated by automatic
grease pump
• Grit cone

Rotor Assembly
– Coupling connects gearbox with bearing
cartridge, protected by bell housing
Upper Bearing
– Bearing cartridge flanged to upper housing
Cartridge
– Stiff support pipes towards lower housinghold
Lower Bearing lower end of bearing cartridge in position (no
swinging)
– Rotor with removable blades (later slide) is
flanged to lower end of bearing cartridge

Exchange of Rotor Blades

If visual inspection reveals wear/tear on

Rotor Blades – exchange is necessary

1. Unbolt and extract locking Rings

(upper/lower end of blades at inside)
2. Pull Blades out of guide-slots
3. Insert new Blades into guide slots
4. Bolt down locking Rings and secure bolts
by tack welding

Exchange Blades in pairs 180 Degrees

opposite of each other OR re-balance
Rotor upon first start

Exchange of Bearing Cartridge

1. Secure rotor by chain-falls to upper
housing (ceiling)
2. Dismount classifier gearbox (as complete
unit using a crane), pulling gearbox
vertical upwards off coupling
3. Disconnect automatic grease system and
instrumentation from bearing cartridge
4. Unbolt flange cartridge – upper housing
5. Unbolt flange cartridge – rotor
6. Use crane to pull old cartridge out off
classifier
7. Use crane to insert new cartridge into
classifier
8. Re-assemble in reverse order

Grease Lubrication of Bearing Cartridge:

• Grease Reservoir with Level sensor
Continuous low level alarm will trip the
system after X hours (usually 8 hours)
• Single outlet grease Pump
• Grease splitter (50:50)
• 2 Lines into (upper / lower Bearing)
• Pump runs for 12 Minutes, shuts down
for 48 minutes and restarts as long as
Classifier is running

• The bearing temperature is monitored

continually by temperature sensors

Grease type
KPF 2 G 20 or comparable
Amount: 4 kg in pump reservoir, 2 kg in
bearing cartridge and pipelines

Upper housing and inserted ring of static guide vanes

- The guide vanes are adjustable and will be set during commissioning
- The guide vane position has a direct impact on the product quality and
classifier efficiency
- Static guide vanes and rotor blades need to be frequently inspected for
wear, tear and position since these parts are directly responsible for the
cement fineness and quality

Exchange of Static Guide Vanes / Flaps

If visual inspection reveals wear/tear on
Static guide vanes – exchange
1. Gain access from inside by removing
some rotor blades, turn rotor until “window”
is aligned with worn static vanes
2. Unbolt old static guide vane and take out
3. Bolt down new vane onto Vane Carrier
4. Check adjustment with Template
(Template to be determined during
commissioning)

Visual check:
- Oil level / leaks at rotor gearbox
- Bolts at ceiling, static guide vanes, rotor drive,
lower bearing supports still tight
- Wear and tear on static vanes, rotor blades,
upper/lower housing, grit cone (Inside)
- Position / Adjustment of static guide vanes
- Level in Grease Container
- Leaks in Grease Lines (outside / inside)
-Ceramic liners in upper/lower housing missing

Maintenance (as needed or as in manual):

- Visual – weekly
- Retighten, repair, refill
- Replace worn rotor blades / static vanes
- Repair worn grit cone / housing and replace worn
liners
- Replace missing / broken ceramic liners
- Exchange bearing cartridge
- Follow Flender manual for gearbox oil
