3 Using / Testing the Reader

Power the reader, the red LEDs will light, followed by a beep. Present a valid credential to the reader and the
LEDs will turn green. The reader is now working correctly.
Cards can be presented in rapid succession; there is no need, for example, to wait for "GREEN LED’s" to
disappear before presenting another.
If the reader cannot read a card read. Check wiring for faults or replace reader.

LED Status Indicator

GREEN – The lock is released and you may open the door.
AMBER – ‘Enter your PIN’, If you make a mistake, The RED LED’s are momentarily displayed, followed by
Amber LEDs ‘s to prompt you to try again (for -KP variants only).
RED – You do not have access rights to gain entry, or the reader did not read your card properly (in this case,
present it again).

Installation tips:
Upon a power reset, the S900 Readers provide a reset sequence using the LED indicator and the beeper, to
provide information about the reader type and its communication mode. The first sequence (sequence A)
describes the credential technologies built into the reader:
A single red LED flash indicates Bluetooth credential support
?
A single green LED flash indicates 13.56 MHz credential support
?
A single amber LED flash indicates 125 kHz Prox credential support
?
Sequence A is followed by sequence B. Sequence B indicates the reader communication protocol:
One beep (with 3 x Green LED Flashes) indicate that the reader is in 20mA communication mode.
