Background Information for Learners

This lesson deals with about following emergency procedures to ensure safe
work requirement, utilizing tools and materials in accordance with
specification and procedures and wearing of outfit in accordance with fishing
requirements, checking the shelf life and effectiveness of materials against
manufacturer’s specifications, identifying hazard in the workplace in line with
fishing guidelines and reporting hazards in the workplace in line with fishing
guidelines.

Directions: Accomplish the following exercises about applying safety in


fishing operations.

Exercise I.
Activity 1. Identification. Whenever you perform a task, safety rules should
be strictly followed to avoid accidents. The wearing of Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) is a must which should be appropriate for the task to be
performed. In this activity, let us recall the different components of PPE by
