1, What significant changes can you consider as partnership between the

Corporations/firms and government as programs for Social responsibility. Explain fully/

cite examples.
Change can be the foundation of competitive advantage but, to be effective, a change
management programme must identify areas of potential conflict, address the needs of everyone
in the organisation and, crucially, bridge the gap between the aspirations of executives, technical
project teams and the people affected by the change.

For example, In 2004 Shell was facing an oil reserves crisis that hammered its share
price. The situation was compounded by the abrupt departure of the oil group’s chairman, Sir
Philip Watts. The new group chairman, Jeroen van der Veer, believed that in order to survive, the
corporation had to transform its structure and processes. A series of global, standardised
processes were identified. These, if introduced, would impact more than 80 Shell operating units.
While the changes were vital to survival, they proved unpopular in the short term as some
countries stood to lose market share.

The message was a tough one, and many operating units balked. However, for a change
programme of this scale to be successful, everyone had to adhere to the new systems and
processes. The leadership of Shell Downstream-One, as the transformation was known, needed
unflinching determination and to focus on gaining adoption from everyone involved. Those
leading the change had to ensure that the major players in all their markets knew what was
required and why. They needed to be aligned with the change requirement. From the start, it was
recognised that mandating the changes was the only way for them to drive the transformational
growth they aimed for. This wasn’t an opt-in situation.

2. What ARE the ethical issues and dilemmas in the PHILS. that hindered our economic
growth. Explain/justify your answer.
The ethical dilemmas and issues that hinders the Philippines economic growth are:
First is Corruption we all know that this issue is very popular on us as Filipinos and there are
some government officials who did this and this is why our country still in the developing
stage. Second is Environmental Pollution which is literally happening in our country, the
degration of some natural resources. I think this two are the major issues that really hinders
our economic growth.

workers competitive in the industry/International business where Technology is
intensive.
With a population of over 103 million Filipino citizens, the country has an excellent
source of manpower. Besides the number of people you can hire, the Filipino workforce is
known to consist of the most promising, competent, and efficient individuals. They have the
ability to speak fluent English, a language universally used for business and commerce.
Education has always been a basic social value in the country and the Philippines consistently
contains a high number of graduates per year. Filipinos are equipped with the knowledge, talent,
and social skills you need to make your business succeed. Filipinos are also fast learners that’s
why we can compete and join to international even though their technology is intensive than
ours.

4. A country should be specialized in producing goods and services where it has absolute
advantage. What opportunity can you consider in the PHILS. to compete
internationally. Identify and explain
One of the most notable reasons why foreign investors eye the Philippines to start their
businesses and build their empires is because the country is rich in natural resources. It is one of
their greatest competitive standpoints. Natural resources help sustain the nation, which is what
makes it an important part of their economy. Made up of more than 7,100 islands, it’s no surprise
that the Philippines contains an abundance of important natural resources. As of today, there are
more than 640,00 square miles of territorial waters in the country. Aside from that, there is a
great quantity of marine life and produce that are valuable to people worldwide. Almost all the
living species available in Filipino waters and land are of commercial value.
In addition, the Philippines is home to many valuable minerals. Studies show that the country
consists of more than 21.5 million metric tons of metal deposits and 19.3 metric tons of nonmetal
mineral deposits. You can find minerals such as copper, timber, silver, gold, cobalt, salt, and the
most abundant deposit, nickel.
Lastly, the Philippines is attractive for growing crops used for domestic use and export.
There are many places that contain fertile soil in the Philippines. The most notable of which are
Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, and Negros. The primary and most popular crops in the
Philippines include rice, soil, sugarcane, abaca, and fruits.

5. Discuss a theory of international trade that can influence attributes to individuals,

firms and government for economic growth.

Mercantilism was one of the earliest efforts to develop an economic theory. This theory
stated that a country’s wealth was determined by the amount of it’s gold and silver holdings. In
its simplest sense, mercantilists believed that a country should increase its holdings of gold and
silver by promoting exports and discouraging imports. It is connected with policies which
confine imports, increase stocks of gold and protects domestic industries.
