BRINGING NETWORKS TOGETHER

CONVERGED VIDEO, VOICE, DATA AND IP IN A SINGLE SOLUTION

O
MNI-Optix is an integrated SONET/SDH Multiplexer that leverages a SONET or SDH

infrastructure to provide transport and access capabilities for voice, data, IP, TDM and

video. OMNI-Optix accommodates both narrowband (DS0-based traffic) and broadband-

based traffic (SONET/SDH) and is suitable for either fiber optic or microwave networks. DACS

capability is also available in narrowband and broadband system configurations.

OMNI-Optix is a highly reliable and flexible solution, based on trusted technologies that are proven to

work in even the most trying conditions — making OMNI-Optix the best choice for critical

infrastructure networks requiring “always on” availability.

CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE APPLICATIONS

ONE SOLUTION, OMNI-Optix is especially well suited to handling converged network traffic for critical infrastructure

MANY APPLICATIONS applications that include process control and monitoring traffic, emergency systems, administrative

traffic and mixed technologies, often in the harshest of environments. OMNI-Optix is ideal for

hardened or corporate infrastructures in a variety of industries, including:

MEETING “ALWAYS ON” REQUIREMENTS
Reliability is of the utmost importance in networks that carry data vital to safety controls, protection
circuits or industrial process monitoring. Designed specifically for critical infrastructures, OMNI-Optix
is a low profile, high-port density solution that has been designed to withstand the harshest of
conditions. OMNI-Optix meets the strictest standards of reliability and includes:

• Field-upgradeable, hot-swappable modules.

• Critical element redundancy
• Dual power feeds.
• Comprehensive diagnostics.
• Low latency.

FLEXIBILITY TO MEET YOUR NEEDS

To help you create a reliable infrastructure that meets your needs,
OMNI-Optix is designed with flexibility in mind.

• Interface modules can be easily field-installed and remotely configured.

• Multiple interfaces can be accommodated in a single unit, including voice, data, IP, primary rate
interfaces (E1/T1), high-speed interfaces (DS3, E3) and optical interfaces (OC3, STM1).
• OMNI-Optix can be configured in multiple topology configurations, including:
- Point-to-point protected and unprotected applications with up to 60 miles or 100 kilometers
between network sites over fiber.
- Ring topology with up to approximately 60 miles or 100 kilometers between network sites over fiber.
• OMNI-Optix can be managed by any SNMP management system.

• Electrical power generation, transmission and distribution. • Corporate network applications for voice, data and video traffic where high bandwidth and
reliability are critical.
• Oil and gas pipeline and distribution.
• Railway, air and other transportation applications.
WIRELESS APPLICATIONS
• Government applications, including emergency services, municipal, state and federal agencies,
and airport authorities. OMNI-Optix is also ideal for providing mid-stream and DS0
• Carrier applications, including mid-stream, DS-0 and OC-3 grooming, SONET/SDH add/drop or grooming for wireless infrastructures.
terminal multiplexing, DACS, data and voice channel bank, and Ethernet over SONET/SDH.
ABOUT BAYLY COMMUNICATIONS INC.
Located in Toronto, Canada, Bayly Communications Inc.
(www.bayly.com) creates digital telecom products that integrate
voice, data and image traffic for transmission over TDM (Time
Division Multiplexing) radio and optical fiber facilities.
OMNIPlexer T1/E1 multiplexers are deployed by network
operators worldwide for their outstanding reliability and ease of
use. OMNIBranch and OMNIFlex cross-connect switches offer
wireless service providers intelligent CSU and base-station access
platform features that dramatically enhance network efficiency
and reduce operating costs. In response to the evolution toward
IP-based networks, Bayly now offers the OMNIBridge, OMNIHub
and OMNIRoute, designed to support the integration of IP-based
technologies into legacy TDM networks. Bayly products are
installed in telecom networks in 57 countries.
