1/2 Cup Sugar & Nutrition Values
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Plain Yogurt
1/2 Cup (2 oz / 57g) Walnuts
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil (Approx. 100g)
1 Egg
1/2 Tsp Ground Cardamom
1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 Tsp Baking Powder
1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar (Confectioners sugar)

PREPARATIONS:

None.

DIRECTIONS:

BATTER
1- Combine 1/2 cup vegetable oil and sugar in a large bowl.
2- Add plain yogurt, add an egg to the bowl and continue stirring
until well mixed.
3- In a separate container mix flour and baking powder and
gradually add to the mixture while whisking.
4- Knead the batter for 5 minutes or so.
5- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and allow to rest for
an hour.
FILLING
6- Grind walnuts in a grinder. Add ground cardamom, ground
cinnamon and 1/2 cup of sugar and continue grinding/mixing.
7- Roll out the dough on a well floured working surface.
8- Using a large round shaped cookie cutter, cut out the batter,
add the walnuts filling and seal the top to make a small ball
shape.
9- Deep fry the nuggets in vegetable oil.
10- Place them back onto a napkin to get rid of the excessive oil.
11- Dip the nuggets in powdered sugar.

Ghotab or Qottab is a traditional Iranian sweet nugget / cake.


Ghotab is filled with walnuts and deep fried in vegetable oil.
Qottab is sweet and tasteful and just like most of sweet cakes, it
is high in sugar. Having one or two qottab with morning coffee
or afternoon tea can be delightful. Each qottab can weigh 20 to 35
grams.
3.5 oz (100g) of qottab or ghotab has 350 calories (126 calories
