Lesson Title: Rounding off whole numbers
Rounding simply means:
 Writing a number as an approximate. Numbers are often rounded to the nearest one, nearest ten,
or hundred.
Rounding often means round up or down to the nearest whole unit.
 Giving an approximate answer.

Example # 1
- 379 rounded to the nearest hundred is 400
- 333 rounded to the nearest hundred is 300

Rules for rounding


1. Numerals 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 let the number being rounded to, remain unchanged.
- Numbers below 5 are rounded off downwards.
2. Numerals 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 tell you to + 1 to the number being rounded to.
- Digits 5 and above are rounded off upwards
- Don’t forget 5 is rounded off upwards
