PROGRAM GOALS
The BS Criminology graduates are expected to become globally competent, innovative, socially and ethically responsible in their field of
specialization that focuses on research and inquiry on the nature, causes, treatment or punishment of criminal behavior and how criminal justice
agencies function and respond to crime, criminals and victims prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime detection, correctional administration
public safety and allied fields. Moreover, they are also expected to foster the values of leadership, integrity, accountability, and responsibility while
serving their fellowmen, community, and country.
1. Conduct criminological research on crimes, crimes causation, victims and offenders to include deviant behavior.
2. Produce graduates who are equipped with academic, scientific, technological knowledge and skills in preparation for careers in
crime prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime investigation and detection, and correctional administration
3. Provide, opportunity, instruction and guided experience by which the students learn the basic knowledge and acquire the skills
essential to the practice of criminology
4. Foster the values of leadership, integrity, moral, ethical and aesthetic values, accountability and responsibility while serving their
fellowmen, community and country
5. Encourage research and inquiry in the nature, causes, treatment of criminal behavior and how criminal justice agencies respond to
crimes, criminals and victims in consonance with the need of the community
6. Establish linkages and participation in the different law enforcement agencies and the community in the enforcement of laws,
ordinances, and other regulations relative to environment protection and preservation.

This course introduces students to the contemporary world by examining the multifaceted phenomenon of globalization. Using the various
disciplines of the social sciences, it examines the economic, social, political, technological, and other transformations that have created an increasing
awareness of the interconnectedness of peoples and places around the globe. To this end, the course provides an overview of the various debates
in global governance, development, and sustainability. Beyond exposing the student to the world outside the Philippines, it seeks to inculcate a
sense of global citizenship and global ethical responsibility.
This course includes mandatory topics on population education in the context of population and demography.
