2nd Semester, A.Y. 2022 – 2023

1. To deliver globally adaptable system of instructions with enhanced ability to acquire advances in engineering and its allied field.
2. To be self-reliant through effective and efficient generation, allocation and utilization of resources on avenues that advocates the great welfare
of the local and global communities prepared to respond to the emerging trends.
3. To promote advances in research developments that extends sustainable practical solutions to the challenges of engineering and industrial
fields benefiting the socio-economic and environmental growth of the local and global communities prepared to respond to the emerging
trends.

PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:


Graduated of BSME Program should be able to:
1. Apply knowledge of mathematics and science to solve complex mechanical engineering problems.
2. Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
3. Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints, in accordance with standards.
4. Function in multidisciplinary multi-cultural teams.

COURSE DESCRIPTION :
The course deals with interactions between science and technology, and social, cultural, political, and economic, contexts that shape and are
shaped by them. (CMO No. 20, series of 2013)

This interdisciplinary course engages students to control the realities brought about by science and technology in society. Such realities
pervade the personal, the public, and the global aspects of our living things and are integral to human development. Scientific knowledge and
technological development happen in the context of a society with all its socio-political, cultural, economic, and philosophical underpinnings at play.
This course seeks to instill reflective knowledge in the students that they are able to live the good life and display ethical decision-making in the face
of scientific and technological advancement. This course includes mandatory topics on climate change and environmental awareness.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

1. Distinguish general concepts and historical events in science, technology, and society.
2. Understand science, technology, and society and the human condition.
3. Investigate the human condition in order to thoughtfully consider and articulate philosophical implications that are important to the student as a
member of society.
B. SKILLS
1. State the prominent scientist and philosophers that have contributions in intellectual revolution, nation-building, and science education in the
Philippines.
2. Analyze the uses of science, technology and the human condition.

3. Create a infomercial (commercial that informs people) on how to conserve and protect the biodiversity.
