 ABSTRACT

The present study is entitled as “Techie- A Modern Survival of Women in Stieg

Larsson’s The Millennium Trilogy”. It explores about the advantages of technology,

which helped the heroine to expose all the truth. And about the theme of alienation, how

the heroine was seriously affected by the act of isolation. It also inculcates the techniques

used by the writer to make the novel an effective one.

The study explores about the Swedish Literature. And the review of literature is

brought from the Sweden literature. It also indicates author’s background and works in

the contemporary period. It also elucidates about the isolation faced by the women and

how the characters are alienated or isolated in one or other way in the patriarchal society.

The main victim of isolation is the heroine of the novel series Lisbeth Salander. It also

delineates about the physical and psychological frustrations the character face due to

isolation.

The usage of technology by women characters in the novel Series The Millennium

Trilogy is the prime study of this thesis. It describes about the heroine of the novel

Lisbeth Salander, who is a skilful computer hacker. It also elongates about the incidents

that made her to take the technology as a weapon to fight against the evil doers. And as a

woman how she bravely and powerfully faces all the brutality and offences in the society

had been brought out promptly. The study also illustrates about the various style adapted

by the author to make the aesthetic sense of realization in the modern readers. He uses

symbolism, allegory, motifs, settings etc.
