2. Huawei Proposed Solution for PTS 30Mbps Everywhere

2.1 Huawei Proposed Architecture
Use wireless technology to achieve 30Mbps everywhere especially for unconnected rural household. By
using the latest MIMO solution and rich spectrum, users can achieve higher data rate and enjoy fiber-like
service.

Taking all technical requirements into account, Huawei proposes to deploy the network based on operator’s
infrastructure of radio network.

Using existing mobile network infrastructure can help with 30Mbps service deployment:

• Improve Resource Efficiency

• Shorten Time to Market

• Save Cost

Radio unit supports 2T2R/4T4R MIMO and carrier aggregation shall be upgraded or deployed to have
better performance of coverage and throughput.

2.2 High Order MIMO Solution to Improve Coverage and Throughput

4x4 MIMO

DL 4x4 MIMO, involving 4 antenna transmissions in eNodeB and 4 antennas receiving in UE, is able to help
improve downlink throughput. Comparing with DL 2x2 MIMO and DL 4x2 MIMO, DL 4x2 MIMO can get
more diversity gain, the system capacity and coverage will be greatly improved, especially for cell edge
user’s throughput.

The following figure summaries the operators’ benefits from 2T2R to 2T4R or 4T4R migration for both
uplink and downlink.

4T4R platform can cumulate several competitive advantages including:

 Better end-users’ service experience at the cell edge (strategic in today modern communications);
 Higher DL cell capacity (both peak and average throughput);
 Higher end-users throughput;
 Competitive network capacity solution in case of limited spectrum resources.

TDD 8x8 MIMO

Huawei offer cutting edge modules supporting 8T8R MIMO technology. It is efficient way to solve current
challenges:

 DL cell average throughput can increase by 19%;

 Cell capacity can be increased by 43%;
 UL SINR is 35% better than 4T4R that leads to better throughput.

8T8R vs. 4T4R indoor Coverage

In the same urban area, to achieve 80% coverage probability of indoor RSRP => -120dBm, 4T4R needs 40%
more sites.

In the same urban area, to achieve 80% coverage probability of indoor UL throughput => 256kbps, 4T4R
needs 44% more sites.

2.3 Broad Deployment of CA to Achieve Higher Throughput

Carrier Aggregation enables aggregation of multiple contiguous or non-contiguous carriers to provide a
wider bandwidth as required by LTE-Advanced and to better utilize spectrum chunks.

DL 5CC & UL 2CC can bring these benefits:

 The peak downlink data rate of a single UE can reach 750 Mbit/s;
 The peak uplink data rate of a single UE can reach 100 Mbit/s;
 Contributes to a positive brand image for operators;
 The overall resource utilization is maximized;
 The data rates experienced by users are maximized;
 Flexible balance of the carriers' load.

2.4 Use Outdoor CPE to Achieve Better Coverage

To achieve better performance of coverage and throughput, outdoor CPE with high-gain antenna is a
better choice to achieve 30Mbps comparing to traditional indoor CPE.

3. Reference of Network Deployment

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd as the main player in telecommunication market has richest experience in
deploying commercial RAN Sharing networks whole over the world.

3.1 First 4x4 MIMO Trial with CPE

Background: Huawei tested World 1st FDD DL 4x4 MIMO CPE, Huawei B5328-155, at 4T4R field test
network to verify the gain of DL 4x4 MIMO with DL 2x2 MIMO under real RF surrounding.

Hardware Configuration: 20 MHz at 2600 MHz (Band-7).

Test condition: Compare downlink link budget performance between DL 4x4 MIMO (with 4T at eNodeB
side and 4R at UE side) and DL 2x2 MIMO (with 2T at eNodeB side and 2R at UE side).

Result Highlight: From the figure above we can see that DL 4x4 MIMO can enjoy nearly 70%~80% gain at
all RSRP scenarios. And benefited by the gain of 4T and eNodeB site and 4R at UE side, the DL 4x4 MIMO
CPE still has more than 10 Mbps of downlink throughput when RSRP is -114dBm, at which level DL 2x2
MIMO can hardly have any traffic.

3.2 8T8R Becomes the Main Trend

China Mobile, leader on Chinese market, has deployed 700 000+ pieces of 8T8R antennas until 2015Q3 to
cover 230 million of subscribers. 75% of all newly deployed sites support 8T8R and are provided by
Huawei.

4. Solution Summary
In this document, Huawei provides a brief technical proposal to achieve 30Mbps everywhere based on
wireless technology and operator’s infrastructure.

 Short-term: Enhance or expand existing low band mobile network could improve coverage to
achieve faster deployment requirement.
 Middle-term: Use high frequency band with large bandwidth and high order MIMO to provide ultra
broadband service.

Huawei is willing to discuss further with PTS and local government to provide best possible network
modernization solution with maximum reduction in TCO during network implementation.
