BRAIN FACT: John Dewey observed, an effective school “is realized to the degree in
which individuals form a group.”
BRAIN FACT: The brain is activated during physical activity. Research has
shown that sitting for more than 10 minutes reduces concentration and
increases fatigue. Movement, increases blood vessel activity allowing for the
delivery of oxygen and glucose to the brain.

BRAIN FACT: For many years brain scientists were certain could not make new nerve
cells to replace lost ones. But evidence now shows that the brain can produce new
nerve cells (a process termed “neurogenesis”) in some areas of the brain related to
memory. In addition, research shows that prolonged stress negatively impacts the
hippocampus, the region of the brain that regulates memory.

What are the benefits of Mindfulness?
