Present Simple

Afirmativ: Subiect+Verb (infinitiv scurt)


I eat

La persoana a treia singular se adaugă verbului terminaţia –s sau –es:


Meg wants to invite us to dinner.
The child cries when he is hungry.

Adăugăm –es verbelor terminate la infinitiv în:


1. –o:
He goes to work by bus.
She does her homework in the afternoon.
2. –s, -x, -z, -sh, -ch:
He watches Tv every evening.
Susan washes her hair twice a week.
3. –y:
vocală +y+s: he pays, she buys
consoană+ y→ies: to try→ he tries, to fly→ she flies

Negativ: Subiect+do/ does+ not+ Verb (infinitiv scurt)

I do not eat/ I don’t eat


You do not eat/ I don’t eat
He/ she/ it does not eat/ doesn’t eat
We/ You/ They do not eat/ don’t eat
Interogativ: do/ does+ subiect+verb
Do I eat?
Do you eat?
Does he/ she/ it eat?
Do we/ you/ they eat?

Răspunsuri scurte:
Do you eat meat? ~ Yes, I do./ No, I don’t.
Does she eat cheese? ~Yes, she does./ No, she doesn’t.

Folosim Present Simple pentru:


1. acţiuni obişnuite, repetate, care au loc într-o perioadă generală sau specifică, menţionată prin
adverbe sau locuţiuni adverbiale de frecvenţă ca: every day, always, usually, frequently,
occasionally, in winter, on Fridays, once a day/ year, twice a week/ month, three times a month etc.
We meet every week.
Sue washes her hair twice a week.
They occasionally visit their uncle in the mountains.
2. adevăruri general valabile:
The Earth moves around the Sun.
Four and two make six.

Locul adverbului de frecvenţă

 always
 usually
 frequently
 often
 sometimes
 occasionally
 seldom
 rarely
 never

Pentru Present Simple folosim adverbele de frecvenţă înaintea formei principale a verbului:
Harry usually drinks tea.
Harry doesn’t usually drink coffee.
Does Harry usually drink milk?

Pentru to be folosim adverbele menţionate mai sus după formele am/ is/ are:
Brenda is usually tired in the evening.
Brenda isn’t usually tired in the morning.
Are you usually tired at noon?
