VAJRA – 322P is a durable Manual Control Portable
or Deck Mounted Water/ Water Foam Monitor. The
monitors have rugged construction with the corrosion
resistant Aluminium material. It possesses several
design features for easy operation, minimum
maintenance and resistant to the corrosive
environment. It has high flow capability up to 3000
LPM (800 GPM) when used as a Portable Monitor and
4500 LPM (1200 GPM) when used as Deck type
Monitor or in a fixed installation.
The horizontal and vertical rotation is through swiveling
joint, with double rows of stainless steel ball bearings.
The hand wheel is for easy vertical rotation control
through worm wheel and worm shaft. The horizontal
movement is through handle and with manual lock.
When used as a Portable Monitor, the safety lock is to
be used for maximum vertical elevation operation at
35º.
The Monitor has the provision to mount various nozzles
such as straight stream nozzle, aspirating and non-
aspirating jet and fog nozzles, foam barrel and self
inducting foam nozzle.
The internally cast water vanes reduces the turbulence
and the friction loss, thus increasing the nozzle
performance. The design ensures to prevent jet
reaction force from affecting the horizontal and vertical
position of the monitor.
To ensure desired performance, the friction loss
through Monitor must be considered while selecting
the nozzle and the flow through the monitor, with
reference to available base pressure at the inlet of
the monitor.

INSTALLATION,TESTING & MAINTENANCE
The monitor must be installed and operated carefully
by a trained person.
WARNING: A trained personnel for fire fighting must
use the monitor. Appropriate guidance and training
must be given to reduce the risk of enjury.
WARNING: READ OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE
USE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.
WARNING:Monitor in portable mode must be anchored
properly to prevent unwanted sliding along the ground

After few initial successful test, an authorized person
must be trained to perform the inspection and testing
of the monitor.
The monitor should be always ready for use. To achieve
this condition, scheduled inspection and maintenance
operation should be performed and recorded in the
maintenance register book indicating the requirement
or recommendation. The recommended maintenance
procedure must be followed as given in the manual
and also as per the local authority having jurisdiction.
It is recommended to carry out weekly physical
inspection of the monitor. The inspection should verify
that no damage has taken place to any component
and the monitor is ready for use.
Carry out functional test every month for the flow,
regular rotation in horizontal and vertical plane for
the entire operating angle to observe any leakage.
At least once in three months proper greasing through
grease nipple provided on bearing, worm wheel and
worm shaft must be ensured. Each monitor must be
operated with the full flow in accordance to the
guidelines of the organisation having local jurisdiction.
WARNING:Low nozzle elevation angle can cause por-
table monitor to slide or lift off the ground, which may
result in injury or death.DO NOT OPERATE THE MONI-
TOR ON THE PORTABLE BASE BELOW THE ELEVATED
SAFETY STOP..
WARNING:The monitor when used on the portable
base, the nozzle stream must be kept as close to inline
with the anchor strop to maintain the reaction force
of the nozzle on the strop. It is possible to slide the
Monitor in an arc around the anchor point, but greater
the horizontal angle between the strap & the nozzle
stream, the greater the danger of sliding. ‘Keep the
rotation lock locked, when not rotating the Monitor.
WARNING:Incorrect hose layout may cause instabil-
ity. Use two hoses and bring both hoses straight back
paralleled to each other. Loosely tie the hoses to-
gether 3 meters from the monitor with a hose and
ladder strap, rope etc. as shown in figure 1.
WARNING:When unit is operating in the portable mode,
do not attempt to move or pick up any part of the
base or supply hoses.

The owner is responsible for maintaining the equipment

in proper operating condition.

CAUTION:
A trained personnel for fire fighting must use the
monitor. Appropriate guidance and training must be
given to reduce the risk of injure. The nozzle must be
fixed to the monitor carefully, mismatched or damaged
threads may cause leakage or uncouple the nozzle
during operation.

Do not operate the Portable Monitor below the

elevation level safety lock. Monitor must be anchored
properly to prevent sliding. Operation of Portable
Monitor at a low nozzle elevation or below the safety
lock may cause slide or seriously injury the operator.

Read and follow the warning tag instructions on the

Monitor.

The water supply valve must be opened and closed

slowly. Quick operation of the same may damage the
Monitor and result in injury.

Application of water or foam on an electric appliance

can cause injury by way of electrocution, as water is a
conductor of electricity.
