Hi, everyone! Autumn is a season for sports. Do you know any Japanese traditional
sports? Have you ever tried martial arts before? I have been interested in trying
martial arts for a while now, and today finally I have a chance to try one of them.
Today I'm going to do kendō.

Today, I'm here at 誠道館 (Seidō-kan) which is located in Nippori, Tokyo to have my
first kendō experience. Let's go!

右⼿はつ鍔のとこに (Migite wa tsuba no toko ni…) “The right hand is on the guard…”

左⼿は、この柄頭と (Hidarite wa, kono tsukagashira to) “And the left hand is at a
point called”

⾔いますけどここに、⼩指が... (iimasu kedo koko ni, koyubi ga…) “tsukagashira and

the little finger is…”

そして左⼿は、だいたいへその前ぐらい、 (Soshite hidarite wa, daitai heso no mae

space the size of a fist.”

comes to an opponent’s throat.”

kendō is a kind of Japanese martial art based on traditional workmanship and it

means, “the way of the sword”. There are various theories on how kendō began. One
is that kendō was developed from traditional techniques of Japanese
swordsmanship. Nowadays, kendō is one of the common club activities at school.
Doing kendō can also improve more focus, stronger spirit, and body strengths.
