Hong Kong is among cities boasting the highest communication connectivity in the world with
83% of the homes having broadband access, a 227% smartphone penetration rate, and more than
39,750 WIFI access points all over the city, arming her with what it takes to drive the application of
Internet of Things technologies.
The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) has been keen in driving
development of the local technology innovation ecosystem and helping the public understand sci-
ence and technology and how they are related to their daily life.

Home Application Environment and Energy
The world today is facing with very real challenge of energy shortage, and every City is now
involved in carbon footprint reduction. AirStar is confident that its unique Radiant Cooling Fresh air
(RCF) technology is ideal for deployment in high density buildings where reduction or elimination
of cross infection (especially in a pandemic scenario) is a top priority.

They have patented design of the RCF system which consists of ceiling panel, primary air unit and
controls to regulate the whole indoor environment intelligently. Their state-of-art design Ceiling
panel structure has 2 stages of radiant heat transfer from cooling coil to reflective material and then
to the panel back-plate. The surface temperature of the front side of ceiling panel will not exceed
the dew point of the environment as such no condensation will be formed. The heat load of the
environment will be absorbed by the panel surface through radiant heat transfer which is equal
to the speed of light as such the cooling time will be shorter. With careful design and engineering
works coupled with the Fresh air unit, it is capable of saving at least 40% energy, while attaining the
same or better comfort level (based on the ASHRAE 55-2010 standard) compared with traditional
air-conditioning systems

We aimed at aiding school children to construct various Internet of Things projects. The first project

accurate underlying technologies for mHealth/wearable devices. The accuracy WBD101 can provide
as much as the reference hardware designs and off the shelf sensors, and the Human Body IoT
(Internet of Things) vision of big data analytics will depend on highly accurate information that
WBD101 software algorithm calculates.

WBD101 has extremely accurate heart rate measurement technology (ActivHearts™) using
Photoplethysmography (PPG) that can be applied to earphones and wrist watches, their R&D focus
on ensuring that accurate Heart Rate (bpm) can be obtained dynamically under motion and in a
continuous real-time manner by using strong algorithm that removes motion artifact, with the final
information sent to smartphone via Bluetooth Smart. In addition, the users will be able to know
other biometrics information such as calorie burnt, VO2max, Heart Rate Variability, Respiration Rate
and R-R Interval.
