ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE THAT INFLUENCES OUR WHOLE LIFE

Is humankind prepared for the new world that a superior intelligence will give shape?
The sense of discovery and the creative mind of human beings have directed people to
constitute machines that can contemplate just like humans. The term artificial intelligence was
first defined by John McCarthy (2007) as "the science and engineering of making intelligent
machines, especially, intelligent computer programs" (p. 2). There are still a lot of
controversial issues on AI. But still, contrary to bad scenarios, artificial intelligence, which is
one of the most important inventions of humanity, may have remarkable effects in some fields
such as military, education, and daily life.

Firstly, AI is a facility for military fields because machines can fulfil the
responsibilities of humans. For example, unmanned aerial vehicles are the best solution to
decrease death due to war or military operations. If wars are ineluctable, sides that are
sophisticated on AI can have more advantages than others. Moreover, military students are
improved like in the real world through AI, and they specialize to decide on the correct option
under different conditions. AI ensures simplicity to raise military personnel thanks to
augmented reality. Face recognition that AI brings our lives provides to determine enemies
and dangerous people more easily.  Also, machines can be repaired effortlessly contrary to
raising a war pilot. An example of AI usage was carried out by Alan Mathison Turing during
World War II. Alan Mathison Turing who put forward whether computers and machines can
have the ability to contemplate or not is a pioneer for AI. He cracked the German military
codes in World War II by using a machine that can be regarded as an ancestor for AI, and that
is why he was considered a war hero. Furthermore, that case was embodied thanks to a movie
that is called “The Imitation Game”. AI can be an abstract term; however, people could
comprehend how AI may be influential on wars through films. In brief, AI is a technology
that has significant impacts on military fields.

Secondly, AI will make the most voluminous effect on education because, while AI
can have some problematic issues in the other fields, it is entirely beneficial to education.
With AI, since it will be easier to analyze the competence of students, determining
deficiencies of students will be easier; therefore, the quality of education will escalate.
Furthermore, systems that are developed by AI support teachers; so, productivity enhances.
AI-based programs give effective feedback, thanks to that, the development of students can be
followed effortlessly. To illustrate, assignments that are given to students can be evaluated
more exhaustively, and they can be personalized according to the achievement of students;
thus, personal achievements can improve, and unsuccessful students are not ignored. Also,
new generation children are familiar with technology, AI technology usage will make them
more attractive to lessons.

Finally, because AI is everywhere in life, wherever people go, there is much ease that
comes with AI. The impact of artificial intelligence on daily life can be categorized under the
headings of shopping, communication, health and driving. For instance, online shopping is
already managed by AI. By means of many algorithms, websites offer people the best options
according to its syntheses that attain from shopper's preferences. Instead of increasing
consumption if that development can be used to be personalized shopping, people can shop
without spending any time. Also, humanity lives in the communication era in which access to
information is crucial. In this age, AI makes accession easy and straightforward. If knowledge
is going to be inevitable, AI will be a pioneer for it. Producing, sharing, and quick access can
be provided by AI effortlessly. For example, with voice recognition and understanding
applications such as Siri, Echo, people can call, set alarm etc. merely by speaking to their
telephones. Moreover, health services could improve with AI, because there is a big data in
health services, if that data is evaluated by AI-based programs, the responsibilities of health
workers will decrease, and thus, analysis results may be able to be learned earlier and the
diagnosis of diseases may be able to be examined earlier; therefore, quality of life and
lifespan will increase in the same way. In addition to these, diseases with no cure today may
be solved in the future with artificial intelligence. In particular, artificial intelligence
technology is already utilized to understand tumor cells from microscopic cell tissue images,
utilities of AI will be even more effective in the future. Another effect of AI is for drivers.
Vehicles that are produced by AI technology provide drivers safer and more quality journeys.
Specifically, those vehicles have an assistant that describes the roads and makes drivers direct.
Also, vehicles are designed to warn drivers to stay in lanes and to keep the distance; so, the
rate of death and accident can decrease by means of technology.

In conclusion, artificial intelligence can be the main factor that tremendously affects
several areas. While it provides power and easiness in military fields, AI offers many facilities
for education and daily life. If it could be used for the favour of humanity, artificial
intelligence, shaping today's world, will be the foundation that forms the future with the
developing technology.
