1. A : abolishing pay schemes that are based on age.

Opinion : ( Paragraph 1,Sentence 1 & 4 ) from both of the sentence I choose, I could see that
there are conflict between the first sentence and the fourth sentence. On the first sentence it’s
talking about what the general thinks about older workers pay schemes ( it is also the first
paragraph main topic / sentence that the writer want to tell us about ).But in reality it’s not like
what they think about, and it is explained on the fourth sentence. In conclusion, I think that “A” is
the correct answer for number one.

2. C : allows the expertise of older workers to be put to use.

Opinion : ( Paragraph 2, Sentence 2 ) I could clearly see that the answer has been explained in
second sentence which tell us “ IBM set up a separate company called Skill Team, which re-
employed any of the early retired who wanted to go on working up to the age of 60.”In
conclusion, I believe that “C” is the correct answer for number two.

3. D : appeal to distinct groups of older workers.

Opinion : ( Paragraph 3 ) I think most of the sentences on paragraph three relate to this
question. But there is a clue on first sentence which tell us “The best way to tempt the old to go
on working may be to build on such ‘bridge’ jobs: part- time or temporary employment that
creates a more gradual transition from full-time work to retirement.”After reading this sentence
and the other I think that choice A, B and C has nothing to do with the question and not written
according to the text in paragraph three. In conclusion, I think that “D” is the correct answer for
number three.

4. B : older people are good at running their own businesses.

Opinion : ( Paragraph 4 Starting From Sentence 3 ) Based on the high percentage of businesses
started by people over 55 survived , I could tell that the answer has to be “B”.Other than that, on
the fourth sentence David himself said that “in the coming years the skills of these ‘grey
workers’ will have to be increasingly acknowledged and rewarded.”From this sentence I could
see that David must have assumption that older people are good at running their own businesses
so he wanted to acknowledged and reward them.I’m pretty sure that the ‘grey workers’ are the
old people. In conclusion, I believe that “B” is the correct answer for number four.
