Strengths and Weaknesses:

Word choice is fairly good. There are some totally unfamiliar, some familiar and some known
words. Instructions are also quite welcoming. Use of images are quite useful in the word
introduction part. And using similar images in the upcoming exercises to facilitate the feeling of
security is a good strategy. However, choosing two similar words both in phonology and meaning
like stratum and stratigraphy might be confusing for the learner. Changing the wording of
petrification to petrifaction is also confusing. And, while using word decompose for a bio-based
object throughout the exercises, changing the use of its meaning to a non-biological object in the
fill-in-the-blanks might cause some mismatches in the exercise.

Presenter/Pair: Şakir Çavuş Topic: Health and Medicine

Suggestions for Improvement:

More challenging words could be used to assess the learners’ level better. To give a deeper
understanding of the words, meaning-form relationship could be used with some visuals.
