Block 2 Submission Form

Part 1: Three-Dimensional Learning in Action

1. Explore the Earth: Human Impact and Natural Disasters Family Letter. How
do Family Letters create a connection between teachers and families?

Family Letters create a bond between teachers and families because they acknowledge from
the beginning the importance of education for the whole family. They make the parent a true
stakeholder in their childs learning and allow them to interact with the materials as their
student works through the modules. This connection also helps with the home learning
environment, which will be and has been extremely important during this new virtual learning
era. The family letter allows the course to potential get resources from home, but overall
make a personal connection with the family.

2. Considering your exploration of equity, how can you apply what you have
learned to your role as an instructional leader in your school or district?
a. Identify areas in which you can improve equity in your classroom.
b. Identify areas in which you can improve equity with teachers in your
school or district.

Equity in the classroom is ensuring students have access to all resources regardless on their
background and current state. I work in a very proverty stricken district. Students come to the
table with basically nothing and most of the time we are under the assumption they do not
have what they need. In order to improve equity in my classroom I want to take a personal
inventory of each student in the course. I want to create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) that
is short, sweet and to the point for each student. I want to track the needs and goals of each
student as they progress through the course.

Our school is very equitable now. We currently have an equity plan in place and we are
constantly evolving it. We host multiple events each month that focus on students of different
backgrounds. We also bring in partners and experiences from all walks of life. We are
currently integrating virtual opportunities for students of color this summer into our google
classrooms and beyond. Ways we can improve our model are the following:
-open line of communication and more parent involvement
-before and after school adult programs for the community

-Find out why they are they to take the course
-Gear the experience or each person differently based on
their need

learner teachers to take home ready materials for lessons. This
means whether they are incorporating it 100 percent or 50
percent, the teachers are ready from day one to go forward.
There is no organizing, planning or further that needs to take
place prior to the first lesson. All work that happens moving
forward is used to improve practice, collect data and plan for
the future.

Prior experience of -List of prior experiences. How can we tie them into what we
the learner are trying to accomplish.
-Integration of PLTW into our curriculum (prior experience)
-Best way to maximize experience and use the technology we
have available in the school.
-How can we incorporate our STEM gear into our PLTW
lessons if it is not a part of it already?
Readiness to learn -Let the teachers facilitate some of the PD. Become experts
in their own right.
-Give the teachers tasks to do that align with the modules.
Have them present their work as a whole. For example in
robotic unit.
-Make the teachers feel part of a team. SWAG. We want
them to want to teach. We want them to want to learn. We
