A. Two concepts that will help when working with adults are “gaining knowledge from
participants prior experiences” and “learning about a participants self-concept”. I
know from my own experiences completing professional development courses that
sometimes I feel as though they are a waste of time. They do not gear their curriculum
to my needs or my experiences. I have been teaching for 13 years and am in the
prime of my career. I have 8 certifications for science on the state level and almost a
PHD in chemical sciences.
B. With that being said, it is extremely frustrating when a course does not take into
account what your experiences entail. They could use this information for grouping
you with other professionals and tag-teaming concepts to help each other work the
best. I think that knowing these two pieces of information will help me teach other
adults. I want them to find that the time they spend with me is useful. I want to focus
on how they can immediately use the information and work on putting it into their
curriculums from the start. PRODUCTIVE AND USEFUL. These are the two main
words that will describe my courses.
C. As an instructional leader here is what I have already done:
-trained for launch
-taught 8 of the launch units
-expanded tech for this program
-wrote grants to obtain what we need
-recruited a pilot team of 6 teachers to begin integrating (that’s 9 indiviudals out of 18
of our complete teaching staff that will be using PLTW 50 percent!)
-obtained, organized and stored materials for all units

Current State Vision for Future

Describe how PLTW Launch is implemented in your school:
I am the only teacher that has currently used
PLTW. Only 30 percent of the students have
engaged in any units. I am the sole
coordinator, teacher and facilitator. I was the
guinea pig to determine if we were to follow
through with the program. Now that we have
decided on using it we begin phase two of the
roll out.
Phase two entails 50 percent of teachers
implementing one or more units of the curriculum.
Phase three entails 100 percent of teachers
implementing 1 or more units of the curriculum.
Phase four entails 100 percent of teachers
implementing 3 or more units of the curriculum.
Phase five entails 100 percent of teachers
implementing the whole curriculum.

Describe the PLTW Launch modules that are implemented in your school:

Computer Science units All units implemented in various classrooms.

-Videos to show how to set up the activities that are
included in every module.
-Resources that help teachers write SLOs which is a
common data/ evaluation form for many states.
-Classroom sets of equipment such as station bins
and things to hold materials. The boxes contain a lot
of materials but not many ways to organize it. This
leads to supplies being lost.
-Scholarships or events to honor students who are in
the program that have worked really hard.
On my own level:
-PLC
-more curriculum work
-tie in Bmore STEM
-speakers and experiences that go along with the
curriculum
See current state. We need to continue to work on
making it more accessible for our teachers. It is
organized very nicely in the modules. But a better
way to organize the overall course in the classroom.
An overview of everything. I want to incorporate this
at my level when I do PD. Make sure teachers have
what they need, and each classroom is
interchangeable. Consistency across classrooms.
Students understand and know what to expect from
a PLTW lesson.
