a. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote
student learning and creativity.
b. Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual
curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own
learning and assessing their own progress.
c. Customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working
strategies and abilities using digital tools and resources.

3. Model Digital Age Work and Learning Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills and work processes representative
of an innovative professional in a global and digital society.
a.Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and
situations.

digital age media and formats.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

For this technology resource, the teacher can share his/her screen with the students when wanting to make videos for the
students to look at at a later date. There are buttons that appear at the bottom of the screen and, once activated, the program
videos the screen as the teacher speaks. It has a very simple system with a play, pause, and stop button for easy use. Also, the
teacher can preset where on the screen the students can actually see what they are talking about. This could be a website,
PowerPoint, etc. Then, once the video is taken, it can be easily edited and uploaded to YouTube for any student to see.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing the screencasting – you or your
students, and what purpose it will serve.

I feel like the best way to use this is to upload lectures onto a class website for students who may miss the class for different
reasons. They can view the lectures from the comfort of their home if they are sick, or from an airport if they are going out of
town. I do not feel like this is a replacement for teaching in class though. This can also be used for students if they want to review
content before an exam. Hearing the professor/teacher explain it again could be a great refresher before coming in to take a test.
This could even be used to reaffirm what the student already knows. They can watch the lecture after hearing it in class to make
sure they understand concepts. Overall, this is a very useful tool for the classroom and, in this digital age, I can definitely see
teachers using this on a daily basis. For a majority of the time, teachers would be using this tool, but I can also see students
enjoying this as a way to teach themselves. For example, a teacher could assign to have students teach the teacher a vocabulary
word using screencasting and a PowerPoint for visuals.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
 Given the information above, how would the technology integration you described, using the selected resource? (On the
“Value-Added Rating Scale” above)
 Explain your rating based on the indicators on the rubric.

I would give this tool a 2 on the value-added rating scale. Although it could be helpful outside of the classroom, I do not see it
being an effective tool during class. It should not replace traditional lecture style engagement in a classroom. I like that it allows
students to reengage with materials using technology outside of the classroom. This will definitely aid in mastery of the concept,
as long as the students are willing to view the videos outside of class as well without being forced to for a grade. It lines up with
several of the standards, which, in itself, speaks for a lot. The students will definitely not find any trouble using this through
YouTube and play the videos freely. It definitely enhances the lesson IF used outside of the classroom. If this is used inside the
classroom during the lecture, then it can easily become monotonous and boring.
