Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.
Students recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an
interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

The software is useful for simple editing since its instructions are not too complicated. The software is easy to
follow. It allows a drag and drop effect. When first using it, it allows for students to choose a footage and
create a video either by screen casting what is on the screen or recording the student. Students are able to
come up with their own edits of the videos. They can then share their finished product by uploading them to
other sites such as YouTube.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing the screencasting you or your
students, and what purpose it will serve.

I believe using Camtasia could be another way for students to open up their minds to not only me but to their
peers. Camtasia could work well with my lesson plan where they write an essay about their favorite
childhood memory. When they are finished writing their essays, they can create a video where they show
their essay and read it out so it can be more personal. Students can then listen to each others memories in
class with headphones. Its a useful source because not only are they showing me they know how to write a
narrative essay but that they also actually picked a memory wisely since its close to them.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
Given the information above, how would the technology integration you described, using the selected resource? (On the
Value-Added Rating Scale above)
Explain your rating based on the indicators on the rubric.

I would rate it a 1 because in the lesson that I am currently working on, it wouldnt be necessary. I would
hope that we would be at the point where every student felt comfortable with themselves and would write
based on their personal experiences. With that being said, they wouldnt have to directly read their essays out
loud. The lesson could go on without the software, but I wouldnt rule it out.
