RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.
Screencast-o-matic is a screen recording application that allows you to make a box of what you will
actually be recording, so you dont have to record your whole screen. Audio and video can be recorded
and included and the cursor is highlighted, making it easy to show where attention should be directed.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing the
screencasting you or your students, and what purpose it will serve.
An idea for using this to screencast is to have the students use this tool for homework. It is a way to
collaborate and upload explanations. Students can solve problem either on a note application or on one
of many math applications. They can upload these to a classroom website and share ideas for different
ways to solve the same problem. This could be an ongoing project or a use for extra credit, the students
can try to think of different ways to solve past or present problems, showing their new way of thinking
that the other students can see as well.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION

Given the information above, how would the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource? (On the Value-Added Rating Scale above)
Explain your rating based on the indicators on the rubric.

I would give this a rating of a 2, the students are using it heavily but it is more of a supplement, not a
base for the lesson. It will support mastery of a concept, allowing students to collaborate together. It is a
great way to use technology integrated into a lesson, but the lesson is not built on the technology.
