Materials and equipment needed for lesson:

- Student Chromebooks
Objectives: The learners will be able to…..

1. See the applications of Key Code in the lives of their parents or guardians

2. Continue to grow in their touch-typing techniques through typing club

Introduction to the Lesson/Hook:

Start day with trivia questions for Trivia Tuesday. Trivia questions will be asked in front of the

class and whoever answers it correctly will be rewarded with a piece of candy. After we have the

class opener, I will go into explaining the Parent/ Guardian Interview assignment.

Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Questions:

1. Do you think your parents or guardians are good with technology?

2. Why do you think we are using typing club?

3. What did you learn from your typing club lessons today?

Content to be presented in lesson:

Today I will be introducing a new assignment titled “Parent/Guardian interview”. For this

assignment, students will be required to interview their parents or guardians and either type out
their responses or record their responses with Flip Grid. The questions for the interview are on a

google doc form that each student will make a copy of. This assignment will help show the

students how the things they are learning are applied outside of the classroom and in the

everyday life. This assignment will also help engage the parents into my class and give me a

chance to pull them into the curriculum.

After I have finished explaining the assignment, I will have my classes continue to work on their

Typing Club assignments. Today’s assigned Typing Club lessons are 125-150, which go into

typing capital letters and how to type quickly without making mistakes. Students will have the

rest of the period to finish these lessons.

Learning activities/procedures:

- Parent/Guardian interview assignment

- Typing Club lessons 125-150

Summary/Closure/Review of Content:

At the end of the class period, I will have all the students close their chromebooks and look at

me. I will then ask them to tell me what they learned from their typing club lessons, and we will

discuss as a class their answers.

Evaluation/assessment of student learning:

While students are working on their typing club lessons, I will be walking around the classroom

checking on where all the students are at. If students are behind, then I will take note of it and

make sure to watch to see if they are working the whole class period. After the class period, we

will have a short discussion over what the class has learned from Typing Club today and why it

is important.
Modifications for exceptional learners:

- For students who are gifted at typing, they can work on typing.com or nitrotype.com after they

are finished with the assigned lessons.

- For students who are on an IEP plan or a 504 plan, adjustments can be made for the amount of

typing club lessons they are required to complete.
