This section of the bibliography contains references to the publications of Soviet authors, available
in English. They either a r e historical in nature or a r e of significance for the history of psychology in
the Soviet Union. The first part refers to books, the second part to journal articles or book chapters.
It should be noted that a systematic account of the Soviet historiography of psychology, with 447 refer-
ences, is available from the pen of the late M. V. Sokolov (1960; Engl. transl., 1962). It is the closing
chapter of a two-volume summary of the accomplishments of Soviet investigators in different areas
of psychology. Section 10 of Sokolov's article deals with work on Russian psychology at the beginning
of the 20th century, section 11 with the developments of psychology during the Soviet period in Russia
proper (RSFSR), and section 12 with developments in the other republics, especially the Ukraine,
Georgia, and Armenia.
In Russian, the principal source of information on current literary output in psychology, including
the history of psychology, a r e the yearly Indexes of Soviet Psychological Literature published in the
journal Voprosy psikhologii (see No. 1, 1968, 143-173).
