Approach Method
A project which involves investigation, discovery and finding out something which was not
known to the students before, is called an investigatory project. An investigation is much more than
the repetitions of a standard experiment. Here, the student is to decide what experiments are
necessary and how he is going to carry them out. He may have to design his own apparatus, if that
is not available in the laboratory. He has to search for the appropriate principles, laws, formula,
apparatus and data, and originate a solution to a problem. Here, the student works like a scientist.
Working on an investigatory project is the way a student can learn science by project method. It
involves four as found in scientific method or problem-solving approach.
