Okay, so this morning we are going to discuss about “Poor Environmental
Sanitation”.
A. Presentation

Environmental sanitation - art and science of applying sanitary,


biological and physical science principles and knowledge to improve and
control the environment and factors therein for the protection of the health
and welfare of the public.

Sanitation - refers to public health conditions related to clean drinking


water and adequate treatment and disposal of human excreta and
sewage.

Environmental Problem Faced by Rural and Urban People

Poor sanitation -Because of the illiteracy and poverty of the people in


rural area, they do not know the importance of sanitation and hygiene.

 Linked to transmission of diseases such as cholera, diarrhea,


dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid and polio and exacerbates stunting.

Factors that Causes Poor Sanitation in Urban Area


1. Urbanization
 An increase in the proportion of people living in urban areas
compared to rural areas.
2. Poverty
 A state pf being extremely poor.

3. Inadequate Water Provision


 Lack of sufficient water supply has lead to unofficial ways of
accessing water services.

4. Inadequate Planning
 As population increase more pressure is not on the capacity of
urban cities to provide services to residents.

5. Poor Governance
 Local government should have a key role in all aspects of urban
development but in most developing countries, they are still weak.

Who do you think is the greatest enemy of our Mother Earth?
I strongly believe, that the greatest enemy of our Mother Earth are all
mankind, because of our ignorance and apathy. Human harmful activities like
deforestation, pollution, global warming is a major threat in our environment.
Why environmental sanitation is important?
Sanitation is one of the most important aspects of community well-being
because it protects human health, extends life spans, and is documented to
provide benefits to the economy
