Figure 1 is a bar graphshows that 100% of the respondents believe that the beaches and marine life of
Manchioneal are being destroyed. All 20 participants answered yes in question 4.

Figure 2 is also a bar graph depicting how fisher folk damage the beaches and marine life. From the
diagram we can deduce that main reasons for this damage is due to the improper disposal of garbage
and the negligence of the fisher folk. This is evident as all partakers checked those reasons. Less
prominent reasons would be the improper storage of fisher folk’s equipment and the contaminated
fuels that leak out of damaged boats into the sea.

resources and their importance

Figure 3 is a pie chart illustrating the beliefs of the respondents to why the beaches are being damaged.
From the pie chart, it is seen that majority of people agreed that the environment is being destroyed
because of the ignorance of fisher folk about the value and importance of the resource.

Less Marine Life Murky Waters Solid Waste

Figure 4 displays the evidence of pollution that can be seen on the beaches. Solid waste is clearly visible
along the sea shore and this is shown in the responses of the participants. A majority also answered that
murky waters are also evidence of pollution and a minority answered that they witnessed less marine
life.

Figure 5 is a line graph presenting the ways pollution affects the community. The leading answer is that
pollution causes the sea shores to look unattractive. Majority also said that pollution causes less
recreation activities and a minority believed it causes a decreased food source.

Figure 6 is a bar graph which represents methods of reducing the effects of pollution. Out of 20, 16
people thought bi-weekly clean ups would limit or reduce the effects of pollution. 16 people also
thought proper disposal of garbage through the addition of skips and drums would lessen the effects. 14
people, which is still majority, believed that the relocation of the dock to a central point would decrease
the impacts of pollution.

The bar graph in Figure 7 illustrates the different strategies that could be implemented to decrease the
impact of pollution on the community’s growth and development. 95% of the respondents believe that
implementing and enforcing laws regarding beach maintenance. Majority of respondents also said that
educating and sensitizing masses on importance of resources and reinforcing and supervising beach
clean ups also would reduce pollution.
