1. Revision:
First Issue

2. Introduction:
These test method cover the determination of the various stages and rates of film formation
in the drying or curing of organic normally used under conditions of ambient room
temperature.

3. Panel Preparation :

3.1 Clean and dry glass panel well by suitable solvent >
3.2 Clean and dry the used applicator .
3.3 Put the applicator on the glass panel in horizontal position using 3 mils site>
3.4 Fill the gap of the applicator by paint material to be tested.
3.5 Draw down the paint film.
3.6 Keep the paint film to dry at room temperature in suitable open box.
3.7 Observe the drying along tome y touch the paint film and record the time when complete
drying.

4. Dry To Touch Time :- ( SD)

4.4.1 Drying oils continue testing after the set to touch has been observed .The film
is considered dry when it no longer adheres t the finger and does not rub
up
appreciably when the finger is lightly rubbed across the surface .
4.4.2 When The Finger is Lightly rubbed across the surface considered dry when no
pronounced marks are left by the finger touching the film in same are on
each
observation . Test sealers on wood or other porous substrate as agreed
upon
between the purchaser and seller.

5. Dry To Touch Time :- ( SD)

4.4.2 Drying oils continue testing after the set to touch has been observed .The film
is considered dry when it no longer adheres t the finger and does not rub
up
appreciably when the finger is lightly rubbed across the surface .
4.4.3 When The Finger is Lightly rubbed across the surface considered dry when no
pronounced marks are left by the finger touching the film in same are on
each
observation . Test sealers on wood or other porous substrate as agreed
upon
between the purchaser and seller.

6. Dry Hard Time :- ( HD )

4.5.1 With the end of thumb resting on the film and forefinger supporting the test
panel, exert a maximum downward pressure (with out twisting) of the thumb
on the film . lightly polish the contacted area with a soft cloth . The film
considered dry-hand when any mark left by the thumb is completely
removed
by the polishing operation.

7. Dry Through ( or dry to handle ) Time :-

4.6.1 Place the test panel in a horizontal position at a height such that when the
thumb is placed on the film , the arm of the operator is in a vertical oine
from
the wrist to the shoulder. Bear down on the film with the thumb, exerting
the
maximum pressure of the arm, at the same time turning the through an
angle
of 900 in the place of the film. the film is consider dry through or dry to
handle
when there is no loosening , detachment wrinkling, or other evidence of
distortion of the film.

8. Dry Through ( or dry to handle ) Time :-

4.7.1 A film is considered dry for recoating when a second coat or specified topcoat
can be applied without the development of any film irregularities such as
lifting
or loss of applied without the development of any film irregularities such
as
lifting loss of adhesion of the first coat , and the dry time of the second
coat
does not exceed the maximum specified ( if any ) for the first coat.
