CHAPTER I
PREFACE
1.1 Background
Human advances in industry and technology are used to improve quality his life. It
has been proven that advanced industry and technology are synonymous with level
better life. But on the other hand, humans also began to fear it environmental pollution
caused by advances in industry and technology. The impact of environmental pollution
does not only affect and have an impact on the environment nature only, but it also
affects and affects the life of plants, animals, and also humans. Industrial waste is all
types of residual or waste material originating from by-products of an industrial process.
Industrial waste can be waste that is very dangerous for the environment and humans. In
industrial activities fish canning always yields actual fish waste can still be used to
make fish meal. Fish waste if not managed ( be utilized further) will cause pollution that
is cause a pungent odor, because the process of fish protein decay. Besides can be a
source of infectious diseases against humans transmitted by flies (for example
vomiting). Fish meal can be used for fodder mix like poultry, pork and fish food. Flour
fish contains protein, minerals and vitamin B. Fish protein consists of acids amino
which is not found in plants. High nutritional content in flour fish can increase
production and value nutrition of eggs, meat and fish. Effort making fish meal can use.
Fish waste because it is relatively cheap and easy obtained, also using equipment
simple. This effort is expected to be become the mainstay product of small industry.
Therefore an Environmental Management System (EMS) and (EMAS) is an
environmental management system applied to companies to identify, control and
manage environmental problems in the industrial, construction and trade sectors, so that
companies can carry out their business activities without environmental pollution.
around.

1.2 Purposes
The purpose of this task is to know about EMS and EMAS in the fish canning
process. Then you can apply EMS and EMAS in your daily life. Knowing about the
effectiveness of EMS and EMAS in the fish canning process. Also be able to understand
the benefits, drawbacks and advantages of EMS and EMAS systems in the fish canning
process.

EMS and EMA S
3.1 Implemetation Environmental Management System (EMS)

3.2 Implementation EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme)

The Implementation Eco-Management Audit Scheme can be following by
several steps First the company must conduct an environtmental regulation (Wicaksana
and Sri, 2014). Environmental regulation si about aspect in organisation activites and
also about environmental management procedure and practice. its application in the fish
canning industry is the first to identify the presence of waste produced and then
grouping the waste. This grouping aims to facilitate the identification of waste that has
the potential to damage the environment. Second, the company must have assessment
about Environment Management System (EMS). As we know ISO 14001 is a part of
EMS and talk about regulation, management and anything that can causing the impact
from industry to environmen. Alessandra et alm (2011) said that if elaborate ISO 14001
and ISO 22000 for overcome about critical factor that can be identified by company.
forth is environtmental audit, that mean the company must be audited periodly to get the
certification about standar in environment. Fifth is verifivation, validation, dan
registration. This step for getting a sertification for EMS and also ISO 14001. For
example is Aquaculture Certification Council that certification can be elaborate with
ISO 14001 and ISO 22000.
