Lesson 4.5 Math 8

4.5 - Discovering the slope From a Table

When looking at the slope, we learned that the numerator and denominator tell us important

aspects about the direction of our line.

What does the numerator tell us about the direction of the slope?

numerator

denominator   t up f down

What does the denominator tell us about the direction of the slope?

t right f left

The following problems and answers are the result of the slope that, for the most part, result

in the direction of the numerator and denominator. Determine a rule/method that will allow

you to describe the slope in terms of x and y.
